How to Live an Ancestral Life

All of us here are aspiring or existing Paleo People- or at least we should be!  We want to get in touch with nature, and live our lives in harmony with the natural world of health and wellness, eating real foods that are healthy and nutritious, and eliminating fake food like substances pushed upon us by the mainstream, like grains, sugars, and processed foods and sugary crap.

That is all a given.  We also want to spend time daily in a natural setting, sleep in a totally dark and relatively noise-free setting (like with crickets chirping, and only the moon and stars faintly visible overhead), and we want to vigorously yet naturally exercise on a daily basis.  We want relatively stress free jobs, and a community of like-minded folks that we enjoy seeing often around the streets and area in which we live.  Even to have people who look at the spiritual side of life is very important to us, since all of life is seamless, really, and everything should mesh if we hope to raise our family successfully, and to bond and mingle with our neighbors (and other tribespeople about us), in harmony.

And so what am I saying here?  How should we live; really, that is the bottom line- and where should we live??

I think that is the real crux of the matter- the where.  Europe nowadays is failing in a huge way, as they let in more, and more, and more migrants from what really are hostile tribes into their civilized, homogenous countries.  Western Europeans have lost religion largely, and so have no unifying principles anymore- nothing, at least, that they would die for.  Sweden, Britain, France and other western socialized democracies have no other rallying cry nowadays than to just “be nice”- and that is a recipe for disaster!

So, if you are in those countries under current really bad leadership, overall, I would say to protest vigorously!  In fact, with socialist liberal Trudeau in power in Canada, I’m afraid you are now in the same boat- protest!!  To live an ancestral, paleo type of life requires that you live amongst people in a tribe that are similar to you in values, lifestyle, and above all in IQ!!

I’m sure I lost half of my listeners there, but I stand by it- we are meant to live amongst those like us; anything else is madness and delusion.

So, if you don’t already, plan to move to a homogenous tribal community, where your neighbors are of your own race, especially if you have children.  They will need schooling, and that should be amongst others of their own kind, and intelligence- this is crucial, not only for them and you, but for Western Civilization.

If you are Asian, or black, I also recommend that you live in the most western, civilized area you can find!  REALLY!  If you are intelligent enough to recognize it, your best bet is to live in an area where most people have a high IQ.  Even if you are not as smart, you benefit by being in the proximity of those who produce, and just plain create a complex, western-type of civilization.    This is not even debatable- smart societies create wonderful, productive places with very low crime, and wonderful living conditions.  Other societies do not.

So, in the US, I would recommend RED states, states that voted in Trump.  Lower taxes, less government intrusion, and above all traditional western civilization is still prioritized.  At least for now!

Get in the most rural area you can, where you can still get a job!  (Jobs are very important- just make sure yours is real.  Not a fake managerial, affirmative action type of job- that way lies delusions of grandeur.  And I’m sorry, but most western medical jobs now fall into that category).    Get a real job, where you accomplish real, physical things preferably! Thinking jobs count, but they are even better when done “off the clock”, as a labor of love.  Like music is best done as a “hobby”, and visual art as well.

Spend most of your free time with your family.  Outside, in nature, with campfires and working your land.  Garden, and get a good tractor!  A small, compact, diesel tractor is the arguably most paleo implement of all time, since with it you can mow, till, rake, snowplow, and otherwise work your land as if you had a team of draft horses, only better!

And as you use this amazing engine, just remember that Rudolph Diesel is a fellow tribesman of Western Civilization!  His discovery has enhanced your own tribe, and so you should embrace it with pride.

Blood Pressure BS

Blood pressure, most importantly the notion of high blood pressure, is a long-running pool of misinformation and bad treatment.  The measurement of taking the blood pressure originated in 1905, and has not changed since then!  It was actually discovered in the 1880’s, but the final measuring system was finalized in 1905-

Hardly cutting edge science and medicine!

But the medical system has stuck with it all this time, and only tries to mask the symptoms of the high blood pressure with drugs, never trying to cure the underlying cause or causes.  The thought is that the high blood pressure is what is doing damage to arteries and the heart, when it is actually when there are abnormalities within the heart, arteries or kidneys that the body compensates- by increasing the blood pressure to better serve the circulatory system!

High or Low blood pressure is not in and of itself inherently bad or good: it is just a snapshot in time of how your blood pressure is at that moment of the day.  If you lift heavy weights, or run, of course your blood pressure goes up- a LOT!  This is just the body doing what it does to keep you flexible and alive as you go about on this planet.  Completely natural.

If you take drugs to artificially lower your blood pressure, you are doing absolutely nothing to correct the underlying cause of your high blood pressure (If indeed you even have it), you are merely making the blood pressure stay low.  So low, that it cannot help compensate for any problem in your circulatory system that makes a higher pressure healthy and necessary for you.

It’s as if a fireman is spraying water at a high rate at a fire in your body to keep it down.  Enter modern medicine- and a blood pressure drug will throttle back the fire hose (your blood pressure), and your body cannot do what it needs to.  It’s a case of blaming the fireman for the fire he is trying to put out and control!

You need to let the blood pressure do its therapeutic thing, and try to heal your body from the inside out by eating a wonderful, nutrient dense diet of vegetable smoothies, while eliminating sugars and grains.  By exercising and getting good sleep, meditating and getting out into nature!  By cultivating your tribe of friends and family.  And by stretching your body methodically each day, invigorating your spine and nervous system!

Did you know that to accurately even take a blood pressure reading, you are supposed to sit quietly for at least 10 minutes in a darkened room first?  And that this should be repeated several times throughout the day to gain an accurate reading, which should be an average of all of those very relaxed, very quiet moments??

Is that how your blood pressure is taken?  That’s right- NO.  You come in, sit down (often after having driven over in a rush, and maybe even jogged into the clinic so as not to be late.  (I know I did that once, when I was giving blood).

The nurse slapped that cuff around my wrist (I had actually jogged up two flights of stairs to the appointment), and started in immediately.  I mentioned I had run up the stairs.  “Sure you did,” she said.

You know what?  My blood pressure was a little high that time.  But that was many years ago, when I didn’t know about blood pressure BS.

You probably heard that the AHA and other soothsayers of modern medicine recently lowered the blood pressure guidelines from 140 over 90, where it had been for many decades to… 120 over 80!  This means that roughly 1/2 of all adults in the US should be on blood pressure medications, according to these same soothsayers and necromancers.  Once again, BS.  Methinks that the Pharmaceutical companies are drumming up more business for these drugs, and that is that!

Just as in cholesterol measurement and statin drug treatments, modern medicine is proving once again that it is not currently based on the latest research and science, far from it.  They still recommend low fat diets, and vegetable oils for health, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, among many other antiquated notions from the 1970’s and 80’s.

Don’t fall for it!  Live an ancestral lifestyle, eat a paleo type of diet full of nutrient dense pastured meats and dairy, along with wild caught seafood.  Have a green, paleo smoothie each day, and exercise ala Perfectly Paleo Exercise.  Pretend you live long, long before 1905, long before alchemists and sorcerers came up with magical measurements that don’t really predict anything other than their own bank accounts getting bigger!

Go natural, clean, and ancestral- go Paleo!

Make Health a Habit podcast

The number one reason that people are not healthy is not because they don’t know what to do, or how to do it.  Sure, knowing how to properly exercise is crucial, and knowing what you should eat (and not eat!) to be healthy is as well- so, if you don’t know how to do either one, study up.

Read on www.paleojay.com on both subjects, and get my ebook on Perfectly Paleo Exercise, complete with all the links you need to understand how to exercise naturally, ancestrally, and completely.  This won’t take all that long, and then you will know what to eat, and how to properly exercise.  Of course, you could study both subjects for the rest of your life and learn new things continually.  But, the basics are always the same!  Real food, not processed man-made crap, pastured meats and dairy, wild seafood.  Get rid of grains in your diet, and maximize your sleep to at least 8 hours per night.  Cultivate your “tribe” of friends, family, church members, work friends, neighbors.  Exercise daily, and experience nature as well on a daily basis.

But, now that you know what to do- what is the obstacle?  I’m sure you know it:  it is doing it, you have to follow through.  Walk the walk, not merely talk the talk!  This is what is really hard for folks to do.  Knowledge is indeed power- but only if you actually do what you know you should be doing!

So, you need to make health a habit!  And so, for the next few weeks, I want you to prioritize your health habits.  Make sure to sleep 8 hours per night, and then to exercise the next morning.  Do this every single day for 21 days!  This is the minimum amount of time most people need to create a new habit.

You will find if you get the sleep you need, and have the discipline to exercise each and every morning, eating a proper paleo diet will just seem natural, since you are so conscious of the health of your body during this time.  So really do it- sleep and wake with natural exercise in front of the TV waiting for you each morning, to help you to gradually awaken your body and mind, stretching and invigorating your entire body in a methodical, pleasant way.

I guarantee that, at the end of three weeks, or 21 days, you will have become addicted to feeling great.  Or at least semi-addicted!  For it turns out that 21 days is the minimum time needed to create a habit in your life.  To create a rock-solid, hard core near positive addiction to health and exercise it takes 66 days!  At this point, you will have created a lifelong habit that will be a part of your very being, something that you will no longer be able to imagine living without.

For instance, I have had three days where I have been unable to exercise due to family commitments, and my sleep was cut short as well.  My diet stayed good, but not ideal for the same three days.  Was I tempted to stay “off training” after these days were over?

On the contrary, daily training is so much a part of my life, that the first thing I did this morning after waking was to go downstairs and train.  I did my default workout, which includes virtual resistance training, flexing while rebounding, stretching on the mat over my whole body, and isometrics.  I even do self resisted neck and face exercises, and massage my feet and otherwise work my grip strength and wrists.  And I’ll tell you, as I went through that workout it was as if I was slowly recovering my health, that vibrant feeling of wellness that is so much a part of me!

I was instantly back in the habit of exercise and healthy living, despite me brief break.  And once you develop the true habit of health, you will be the same- a day without exercise is always possible to you, but if you have any real choice you will never choose it!  You know from long experience that health is addictive, in a completely positive sense.  You will hate to miss exercise, just as you will learn to be disgusted by bad food choices!

In fact, I plan to go downstairs after this, and do a brief 15 minutes of so of pushups and rows on the gymnastic rings while I listen to a podcast.  Not because I have to, or feel that I should- no, I’m looking forward to going down into that dusty, half concrete and half dirt floored basement to work out- because it feels so darn good!  It makes me feel alive and glowing with life again, just like it did this morning.  It blows away the cobwebs in my mind, and makes me feel like doing more productive things!

Like I say- health is my habit.

Make Every Day Perfect!

Now I know- all you hear about lately is Keto this and Keto that; not nearly as much paleo as was the case a few years ago!  That’s typical- people are rather faddish, all following the latest trend, and abandoning something else- even if it was working wonderfully for them!

But, far more commonly, they jump on the next bandwagon, before ever really committing to, and following the last one they were planning to adopt!  But, just to be on the record, for most folks The Paleo Diet, (often with slight adaptations like adding in pastured dairy, some legumes and potatoes) is the way to go.  I believe the ketogenic diet has huge potential for some folks- primarily those who already have autoimmune disease, and/or are otherwise severely damaged, health wise.  For them, keto living can be very therapeutic.  But, for the rest of us, an ongoing commitment to a paleo lifestyle, eschewing bread and grains, severely limiting sugar, and keeping the carbs on the low end overall is the way to go.  It is the way to achieve a great, healthy life!

And that is what I’d like to talk about today- making each and every day in your life a Perfectly Paleo Day!  No day can be absolutely perfect, but if you plan, and have a template that you use regularly to outline your days, well most days turn out pretty darn good!

The first thing to do is to make sure to get to bed early the night before!  It seems too obvious to say, but most folks nowadays do not get to bed early- ever!  It is just too tempting to stay up, watch tv, go on the computer and otherwise have your eyes blasted with blue light, throwing off your circadian rhythms until after awhile, your body doesn’t know day from night, and sleep eludes you!  This is bad, and probably worse than you think:

Sleep is not only important to your health, it is crucial!  Sleep is also majorly determinant in how you feel.  If you do not get adequate sleep, and by that I mean at LEAST 8 hours per night, each and every night, you are not going to feel good, vibrant and healthy!  And believe me: that is how we are designed to feel.  We are supposed to feel great the vast majority of our lives, and it is tragic that so many almost never do.  So, be sure to take care of the sleep quotient first, in your quest for wonderful, happy daily living.

Make sure you have things that you enjoy doing- hobbies or interests that you find interesting and compelling.  It really doesn’t matter what they are, as long as they are not harmful to you.  Exercise is one, but actually is not a hobby per se- exercise is a necessity, just like sleeping.  Just make sure that it is natural, as outlined in my ebook Perfectly Paleo Exercise, and also on my blog at www.paleojay.com.   It shouldn’t really be a chore- it should just be how you wake up each day!  Pleasant, working out the kinks.  In front of the TV is best for most, on a mat, methodically improving each limb of your body, and your core, by flexing them throughout their full range of motion (virtual resistance exercise, or Mc Sweeny’s Tiger Moves is another name).  Then, get on the floor and stretch, limbering your whole body.  This only gets more and more important as you age!  STRETCH DAILY!

You can start at 15 minutes, and over time work up to 45 minutes to an hour- each and every day that you can.  The key is getting to bed early!  After a good 8 hours of sleep, getting up is no chore, and neither is exercise- for me, it is MY time, the high point of my day!  I am immersed in a movie usually, and with Netflix and Amazon Prime videos, there is always something that you will want to watch.  Keep your watching restricted to when you exercise- tie them together, not watching when you aren’t exercising!  (Avoid “binge watching”- it’s stupid and counterproductive if you desire Perfect Days.)

My hobbies run towards music, reading, outdoor work on my land like gardening, mowing, clearing paths, and maintaining my woods.  I love anything outdoors, and I believe this is an ancestral thing that can be very valuable for anyone.  I also have old vehicles, and enjoy working on them as well.  For you,  it really doesn’t matter what you love- art, photography, painting, sewing, quilting, flower arranging and growing- I mean, the list of interests are endless, and all are equally valuable- just immerse yourself in what you love, and you are fulfilling your purpose.  You will become your self-determined, autonomous self!

So- for a Perfect Day, you want to aim to include a slice of all of your interests into each and every day, if you can!  So, you can, before work, exercise.  After showering, prepare your breakfast for the family, and your own lunch(es) to take to work with you.  (Bringing your own lunch is almost mandatory- fast food is like a nightmare in most cases, and eating your own healthy, paleo fare is key to being happy and healthy).  And now, there are even crock pots and lunch boxes that cook your food as you go!  Really- you just put in, say, a chicken breast, a bit of rice and a vegetable- all raw- and they are cooked either in your vehicle via the electric connection there, or at your place of work, in time for lunch!  You just need to plan ahead, just like going to bed early…

So- you go off to work, well fortified with a great breakfast, a paleo breakfast like eggs and bacon and maybe a salad- and you have a nutritious lunch in your lunch box to look forward to as well.  You are exercised, and feel like you are glowing with health; relaxed and happy.  This is going to be a happy, productive day!

Your work day will go well, trust me.  When you are feeling great, you are at your most personable and relaxed, which will make your work go very well indeed.  People love to be around, and do business with, those who are confident, healthy, relaxed and fit.  It’s instinctual.  Think about it: would you want to interact with someone who is obviously unhealthy, with a pallor instead of glow of health?  Someone who is yawning, and appears to be on the verge of getting sick, and in a continual bad mood?  No…

And you have after work to look forward to!  When you are done with work, you can do what you want to!

I have already eliminated watching TV- you did that this morning, remember?  AS you exercised!  NOW, you need to get outside- get out into nature, my friend!  I like to go swinging ‘Heavyhands’ weights in my woods, for 10 - 15 minutes is really all you need- it is a great mini-workout that gets the whole body going- PLUS, you are outside in nature. (This is crucial for health, we all need to have a dose of nature on a daily, or at least near-daily basis.)

After that, you may want to grill your supper for the family on your Weber charcoal grill, as I do.  This is an enjoyable, paleo-type of task that is a time for contemplation as well.  Again, something to look forward to!

After supper, you are FREE!  No TV to watch, you can indulge in your hobbies and interests.  I like to include most of my hobbies on a daily basis, at least usually.   Garden awhile, or read a book.  Go to www.paleojay.com to research exercise techniques, or elsewhere to look into subjects that interest you.  The computer is really great for research on medical, political, and really any subject- just keep it on real subjects, not facebook nonsense or that type of thing- those, along with TV, are just big Time Sucks.  BAD.

So, be like me if so inclined- play guitar and sing!  Write!  (tonight I am writing this).  Call your mother on Facetime.  Sit outside on the porch and wave at the neighbors walking by!  (I hope you live in such a rural, small town sort of community- this too is something to strive for.  Big Cities and even suburbs tend to be Anti Paleo these days, with crime and just plain too many people!)

And so, you get the idea: Live a Good Life!  That is the takeaway, really.  By doing what is best, by ignoring what is a waste- most television, staying up late to watch it, and concentrating on what is good and necessary, you will improve your own life to the maximum, along with that of your family, your neighborhood, and ultimately all of society!

It has reached a point in the West, which is the ‘fount of all good things of civilization’, that the LEFT has veered off sharply, into revealing themselves as what they truly are: The USEFUL IDIOTS OF Marxism, and socialism/communism.  If you lead perfect, ancestral days, immersing yourself in the good, you will be immune to this toxic anti-thought form.

And so, as some of your interests, you can watch YouTubes of Jordan Peterson, Stefan Molyneaux, and others, and so educate yourself as to what is really happening in society, and what works and doesn’t in political thought.  So, after you’ve indulged your other interests, watch a couple of their videos.  Think about it, and discuss it with your spouse…

And then, go to bed.  Early!  Tomorrow is another perfect day.

Now I know- all you hear about lately is Keto this and Keto that; not nearly as much paleo as was the case a few years ago!  That’s typical- people are rather faddish, all following the latest trend, and abandoning something else- even if it was working wonderfully for them!

The First European- 20,000 B.C.

The First European- 20,000 B.C.

This is my latest book- a fantasy novella, yet I think it has lots of evolutionary ancestral ideas baked right into it.  Here is the first chapter for you- see if you like it:

I was on watch, for my tribe- the Moon Tribe.  I sat outside of the campfire, beyond the shelter of our cave, with my flint spear close to my hand.  As Wotan, in my 25th year, I was the pride of my tribe- this is not an empty boast, I was strongest by far, and always called upon for guard duty, and any other thing that was dangerous.
As I looked out over the cool night, I watched for any signs of the invaders.  Many there had been, more and more.  Gonga, our medicine woman and the leader of our tribe, had told me that in the past, there were only the Moon People.  Other tribes there were as well, but they were as we are- fair of skin, and bright of eye.  But the dark invaders had come, and kept coming.
They were tall, and swift in running, swifter than the folk of the Moon!  My friend, D’aan, he said that they were swift of foot, but they were weak, weaker than a woman of the Moon.  I only knew that they were endless; they came from the far south, into our wonderfully cool land- and they wanted to take it.
So I thought, as I sat gazing out over the moonlit landscape, so lit by our goddess, the Moon Woman.  Sometimes she was full and round, as if to bear a child, and then the night sky was bright and happy, as is an expectant mother.  That is when it was easy to be on watch, for all was easily seen.
Tonight, the Moon Goddess was skinny and small, like a curve of pale silver in the sky; and I was sad, for soon she would disappear for several nights altogether, leaving her people alone.  These were the worst of times for watching at night, and for our tribe.  Often, we would wonder ‘Will she come back?’  But, as Gonga always said, we were silly children, for the Moon Mother always came back, and got bigger and bigger once again.

I saw a flash of something then, something that made me intent.  A flash of ebon limbs, glowing briefly in the feeble crescent moonlight.  I picked up my heavy spear with the thick flint blade I had carved out, and went forward silently.  I can be utterly silent when I so desire, my leather clad feet gliding over the rocky landscape like a caribou.  I crouched, waiting.
A shape shot before me, and I moved to the side, quickly.  Most of my people are strong, but they are not really quick, or fast.  My mother told me I am of another lineage, from long ago, when some of the invaders mixed with my ancestors, on one of their forays here.  I don’t like that I am similar to the invaders in some ways, but I do like it that I have some of their abilities- nay- all of their abilities- and more!
The slender spear shot past me, striking a rock face to the side, splintering the narrow spear shaft.  For the dark ones, though weaker, can throw thin shafts long distances, with uncanny accuracy.  They are unmanly warriors, I think, for they kill from far away, rather than being brave, and fighting one-on-one, where the mightiest prevails.  But, they do have this dubious ability, and it is devastating to my people.
But I have it too!  I snarled briefly to myself, and then stopped abruptly.  I may be able to throw a spear like the invaders, but I also have their savage viciousness and savagery, I will admit.  I keep it in abeyance amongst my peaceful, wonderful people- but when it is needed, I let it come forth!  Like now, when I feel my blood stirred up from attack, and I want only to protect my Moon People against those dark ones-
All at once, there he is- one of the invaders, standing upright as they all do, with another slim spear at the ready.  His spear is like a small rod, really, with a tiny, ever-so-sharp flint tip- it almost looks like a toy, until you see how they can throw it swiftly and accurately, going right through the heart of caribou or Moon Folk alike.
He looks supremely confident- they usually do.  These thick-lipped, dark-skinned invaders look at us as if we are animals- once again, I involuntarily snarl in rage.  He hears me, and looks suddenly directly at me- I have unconsciously risen, and am staring at him challengingly.  He stares back, surprised.
These folk are tall, much taller than my own peaceful people.  They look down on my people, feeling empowered by their height, and enjoy killing them needlessly, though there is space and land enough for all.  So says my chief, the Great Grandmother of my tribe, and she is right.  I will protect her!
With a slight smile, the black-skin- we call them Nubians, after the land from which they come- looks at me with a confident, superior smile.  Then, he backs off, warily, readying his spear.  He has noticed that, unlike most of my folk, I am at least as tall as he.
No- taller!  I laugh, and now he backs up, afraid at last.  Another of his people comes up beside him, and then another- this is, indeed, one of the Nubian’s endless robbery and invasion attempts.  It is as if the great cave cat had come against my people, the saber tooth as he is called, and I feel as I did when I had slain such a great cat, not that long ago.  My people still sing of it, saying I am the only one of the Moon People to ever kill one of those terrible cat people.  I did, and I still bear the many scars of slaying that mighty warrior of the felines- I honor his brave spirit, and my future women will sing of him,

With a laugh of defiance and anger, I run swiftly towards the invaders.  I hold my spear overhead, shouting in rage.
I see them freeze.  My people are not tall, but they are mighty thewed, with arms that could snap the thin arms of the invaders easily- if only they could get close.  They rarely do, since their run is shambling; their legs short, although powerful.  And, they cannot raise a spear above their heads to throw!
No, strange as it is to me, they can only hold their heavy spears down by their sides, to thrust and stab.  However it may be, their arms are not constructed to lift overhead, and throw with a twisting motion for a distance.  Only the Nubians, those dark invaders hold this power to so devastate a superior rival, animal or human, with this craft or guile. But I am different- I am Wotan, a mix of the hated invaders and my own wonderful Moon folk.  And so, I was equipped to take vengeance!
Another spear shot towards me, a quick throw from one of the invaders.  I evaded it as I ran, and then threw my own spear.  My spear was twice the weight and size of those used by my attackers, and I’m sure they never even considered that I could actually throw it, as of course my people could not do so.  But I did, powerfully.
My spear not only pierced enough to gain the heart, as did those thrown by the invaders, but heavy and hard-thrown as it was, I knocked the one backwards enough that he knocked over the man behind him.  My spear went entirely through the first man’s body, and right into the second!  It was not enough to kill the second outright, but he fell to the earth with a horribly shocked expression on his face.
But I was used to such expressions from the invaders- I plunged ahead at top speed, right at my original antagonist, who had thrown his slender spear at me.  Another thing about me: my speed is even faster than that of the invaders, who scoff at the speed of the Moon folk.
He was so shocked, he never really moved.  He just froze, as I ran up and looked down at him with my bright blue eyes.  I smiled, but not in a friendly manner, but more how I felt every time I saw one of these invader folk that seemed determined to stamp out the tribes of the friendly, welcoming, intelligent and peaceful people within whose tribe I had been raised.
To his credit, he drew a flint knife at his side, stabbing murderously upwards towards me.  My smile widened into a savage grimace as, noting his attack, I grabbed his head, twisting it violently.  He dropped his knife, and as he did so I literally tore his head off of his shoulders.
The other dark man was struggling to rise, pushing his dead brethren’s body off him desperately as he rose up to stand.  He readied his spear against me, and so, wielding the detached head of his cohort, I brained him with it.  He fell, never to rise again.
As I say, I am not like the others of my people.  I have their red hair, white skin, and light eyes, as well as their powerful physiques.  In that, I am unmistakably of the Moon Tribe, and for that I thank the Moon Goddess Losna!
But, as I said- I am tall, taller than the Nubian invaders even, and much stronger.  I can run as fast, nay faster than most, and can throw not only like them, but my spears fly farther and faster, while also being much heavier.  None of this is to brag; in fact, for most of my youth I was ashamed of my abilities, and tried to hide them.  But Great Grandmother noticed, and taking me aside, sat me down in the mouth of her own special, sacred cave that faced the nighttime moon space in the sky.
“Wotan,” she said in her musical voice, “you are a special boy.”  At the time I was only 12 or 13 yearly cycles of the seasons.  Already I was as tall as most of the men in our tribe, and heavier limbed than many of them as well.  I had begun to wrap the heavy skins that we wore as clothing about me to conceal this fact, of which I was ashamed.
Great Grandmother, who was the priestess and the chief of our tribe together, sang then to me, her long, straight white hair framing her face and flowing down her back.  Our people are a musical, poetic folk, who live to tell our stories beneath the light of our sacred moon goddess.  Her song revealed to me her thoughts, as she was an accomplished singer and poet, and she so revealed more in her song than any could simply by speech alone.  I understood, and nodded to her in gratitude.
My abilities were a gift, granted to me by the Moon Goddess, great Losna!  Never more did I hide my great frame, or slump to conceal my height.  Now I was proud- Losna had given me these things, to help and protect my people!
I told all of this to my good friend, N’desh, who I had known since birth.  My own mother had died in childbirth, and I suspected that it was because of my own size even then that she did not survive.  N’desh and his mother, M’lani, and father Bron had taken me in, as had the rest of the tribe.  The Moon People are really one large family; no one is alone here.  The women rule, and they rule in amity and love, as a loving family beneath only the wise counsel of Losna, the moon, and her voice on this earth, Great Grandmother Gonga.
But now, as I said, I am in my 25th cycle, and Gonga has made me her war leader, which I have been since I was 16 summers.  It is summertime once again in the great land of the Moon folk, where we have lived forever.  And in summertime come the invasions from the south, of the Kushites of the dark skin, who come to kill us, and take our mammoth meat, loot our caves, and kill our people!
As always, when I think of this, I grow angry, which is something the rest of my tribe seems seldom to do.  In this way too I am different.

Black Nights Matter!

This is the true iteration of this endless plea, and is one that actually makes sense!  Black Lives Matter means very little indeed.  But Black Nights Matter- well, this is important stuff.

If you are sleeping in a room with windows that let light into your bedroom, you probably have no idea that this is one of the most pernicious things that you can do to your health.  For hundreds of millions of years, our ancestors have had light only within the window provided by nature- from dawn til dusk!

But now, mostly within the past few decades, and increasingly since we started staring at screens, computer, phone, and tablet- all emitting tons of blue light- with is the light that is supposed to jar us awake in the morning- we are subjected to this stimulus not only in what is supposed to be waking hours- but late into the night as well!

Many people have taken this still further, setting their TV’s on timers, so they fall asleep to the blue light emitter that is tv, as their body is attempting to fall asleep.  Talk about upsetting the circadian rhythms!!  Just imagine how upsetting, how confusing this is to our inner ‘clock’, something that has been inviolate since before the time of Christ.  Our health, overall, can only suffer in a huge way.

Some of the most serious potential problems associated with chronic sleep deprivation are high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack, heart failure or stroke. ... Chronic sleep deprivation can even affect your appearance. Over time, it can lead to premature wrinkling and dark circles under the eyes.   If sleep deprivation goes on long enough, for perhaps a couple of weeks: the result is death.  After only 48 hours your body goes into ‘micro-sleeps’, where it sleeps despite your best efforts, even while you try to remain awake.  (You’re not, really, for stretches where you might appear to be).

The bottom line is this: if you are staying up late at night, watching TV or your computer or phone, you probably are feeling virtuous- “Hey- I’m getting all of this work done!”

You’re not.  You are screwing yourself out of health, just as much as if you skipped exercise or eating well!  More, actually!  Sleep is crucial to health and wellness- not to mention fitness.  You need a regular schedule of good nights of sleep, as much as scheduled exercise, or good daily nutrition!

I hope you realize at this point that the whole point of ‘Black Lives Matter’ is a political stunt- nothing to pay any attention to at all, if you are a thinking, rational person- it is pure propaganda of the basest source.  It just made a good headline!  And probably, if those fake ‘leaders’ who so espoused this ‘movement’ would get enough good sleep, they would realize how nonsensical their points really were.

But my own point is nonetheless perfectly valid and important:

Get good sleep!  Every night- black out your windows with curtains, get to bed early, and try to maintain this, day after day- get to bed early, get up early!

So much of the Paleo Prescription is just good-old grandmotherly advice: get up early- exercise every morning, eat a big breakfast, a big lunch and a light supper.  Spend time with your family in the evenings, ala ‘Little House on the Prairie’- play fiddle or other music, sing and dance, and otherwise connect with your family and tribe!   Pretend you live in the wonderfully successful Small Town Americana that has been so unfortunately discarded and denigrated by the Left.

Paleo Life was enshrined in Small Town Living of the early 20th century.  It was ancestral in so many ways, and when that lifestyle was discarded in favor of ‘modernism’, America lost her heart and soul!  Norman Rockwell was thrown on the trash heap as outdated, and racist…

This was the discarding- orchestrated by the evil, socialist, Marxist LEFT: a planned outcome, one that not only cast aside the proven ideals and ethics of Conservatism- but also threw aside the proven maxims of tribal living, like:

Monogamy
Two Parent Families
Self- Sufficiency
Tribal (Local) Government, not BIG Government
Health and Wellness done within the FAMILY, not in Big Medicine environments

I  could go on, and on, for a long, long time.  But for that, you need to listen to all of my podcasts!

Just remember now that, you need to sleep 8 hours each night!  After that, diet and lifestyle matter- but not until you understand that :

Black Nights Matter!!

Protect and Fix your Joints on Paleo Quick tip of the day podcast

The older I get (and I turn 66 on Friday April 6, so I know what old is), the more I see protecting your joints as crucial.  Muscle can be built, even tendons and ligaments can be gradually strengthened, but the joints are in need of maintenance which they rarely get!  When we are young, we literally take our joints for granted, and beat them up exercising to build muscle, compete in sports, and otherwise propel our bodies around.

This is all fine, but it points out the old adage that ‘youth is wasted on the young’.  If I was young again, I would do what I do now:  first thing upon rising in the morning, I put my ALL of my major joints through a brief warmup.  I do it right in the bathroom, so as not to disturb my wife.  (I am an early riser).
I start with just stretching my arms upwards, as high as I can, one arm after another.  I rotate my head on my neck each way similarly.  Then, I put my hands on my hips, and rotate a few times in each direction for the hip joint.  4 to 5 reps, easily, just to get the synovial fluid going in the joints.

Next I put my hands of my knees, and rotate them in each direction.  Then, I do the same for my elbow joints and wrist joints (I do them at the same time), elbow joints, shoulder and hips together, one quarter squats, and another easy twisting motion.  This whole thing takes maybe 2 or 3 minutes- I will post a video to show you how it’s done.  Easy to show, hard to describe.

The beauty of this is not only does it start your joints with an easy warmup, it also wakes you completely up from head to toe!  No more groggy mornings until you get your coffee.

I used to lift heavy weights, and now realize that was a mistake- especially for the joints!  Lifting later at a really slow cadence (Superslow ala Ken Hutchins) was a huge improvement, but still too much, and unnecessary.  The weights were less, but still damaging to the joints.

Now, and for well over a decade, I do bodyweight exercise along with isometrics and ‘virtual resistance’, which is putting the body through a self-resisted protocol of complete motion.  The resistance is self generated in this, and is the key to not only building and maintaining muscle, but also in rehabbing damaged joints from sports and weight lifting injuries.  It took me a little while, but now my joints are perfectly healthy, with all of my knee and shoulder joint injuries healed!  You can do this as well.

The other key thing I recommend doing daily is stretching, methodically.  It doesn’t have to be yoga, but gentle stretching is essential for your health!  You need to get on the floor, and I do it mid-way in my morning workout.  I don’t want to explain it in words, but again will include a video.  A picture is much easier to comprehend than a wordy description!

The final thing to remember is to not injure the joints!  Even in body weight exercise, you can do this- the pushup can be hard on the shoulder and elbow joints, also the wrists.  When I do my pushups, I usually either do them on the Perfect Pushup device (since it rotates, taking off the strain on the joints), or else on my gymnastic rings in the basement- the rings are the very best, joint-protective, and incredibly effective exercise tools around!  Cheap, very effective, infinitely scalable (you can make pushups really easy, or else really hard, or anywhere in between), and great for many other exercises, including pistol squats that do not hurt your knees one bit!

Then other thing to do is to clean up your diet!  Gluten especially will make you susceptible to autoimmune attacks, where your own body attacks your tissues and organs.  A common target is your joints, and you are then a sufferer of Rheumatoid Arthritis!  If you tend in this direction, also eliminate all nightshades from your diet as well as gluten.  Often, just as in type two diabetes, this disease can be reversed, just by changing your diet.

So there you have it:  save your joints, and move comfortably, strongly, and happily throughout your entire lifetime.  It just takes stretching, lubricating your joints each morning, and cleaning up your diet!  As a side benefit, you will also find yourself lean and feline, like a human cat, for the rest of your life.
