A Good Life is a PALEO Life! podcast

 


We all want to live a good life.  We NEED to live a good, successful, in harmony with nature and our neighbors type of life!  But, what sort of life should this be?  Should we live in accordance with modern tradition, by moving to a major metropolitan area, and get a high paying job, and raise our family either in the city itself, or in the nearby suburbs?


NO!  What you really want and need, to be healthy and well adjusted, is to live a PALEO LIFE.  By this, I mean a life that is in accordance with our evolutionary past.  A life that, just like the paleo diet itself, is in the way that we evolved, and and the type of life that we are meant to live.  A life that will make us ourselves, our families, and our nearby community all in sync with nature, and will allow us to be the best, most in harmony with our evolution that we can be!


What sort of life would this be?  We are going back go Ancient Greek, and early Christian ideals here.  I believe # 1 would mean a rural, either country or small town type of life.  A place where we know our neighbors well, where everyone is as self-sufficient as they can be!  

A place where all have a voice, and big government is as minimal as it can be.  A place in the woods, or in the countryside, far from the inevitable corruption that accompanies metro-types of areas, where there are huge concentrations of people in a smallish area.


Look at our big cities of today, everywhere:  they have become awful places, in every sense of the word.  Out of control crime, de-policing, no punishment for horrible acts, along with horrible schools that teach nothing, and could care less.  Big cities are now cesspools of crime, where the most evil and incompetent are put in charge!


I see our modern cities in the U.S. where I live now, as akin to old cities of antiquity, that are abandoned and left in the jungles.  The builders have left, or been destroyed, and replaced by degenerates, and even subhumans who have wandered into these cities, and pretended, or ‘aped’ the former residents, with no knowledge or ability of how to actually maintain or step into the roles of these forebears.  They only want the power, the ‘prestige’ of the former geniuses, with no responsibilities or anything else.  


So, where to go?  These cities are utterly lost.  Rural America is still unspoiled!  Go there, and build a life.  It is still available, as long as big government, meaning nowadays big Democratic top-down authoritative government if kept at bay!!

Smaller cities, particularly in the Midwest and the West are still unsullied, and open to honest settlers.  They are basically unchanged, and while ‘liberal’ socialist types are everywhere, even here, they are not given free rein!  Reason still rules, although liberal/socialistic/communistic nonsense is constantly attacking…


Florida is an antidote to the retarded hellhole of what California has become, and so that is certainly an option.  You will need to do your homework, but the thing is: at least in the U.S. there are many places where you can still go to live a successful paleo type of life!  A life unencumbered by Big Government, and a purposeful breakdown of Western Civilization itself.


Go to where small towns, small businesses, and small schools still hold sway!  Homeschooling is wonderful, and small towns is very similar to what it was in “Little House on the Prairie”, where local families hired a teacher to teach their children directly,  and determined the curriculum.  No Teacher’s Union was asked for, or wanted!  


Remember: This is for your own good as well.  Each person and family is such communities will need skills to survive!  Job skills, for sure.  But also, if you have a homestead place that is ideal, really: you have to have the skills to maintain your place, meaning mowing on a largish scale, maintenance of trees, house, lawn and everything else!  This is a LOT, and takes a lot of energy and initially- learning.  

You’ll need equipment: tractors, chain saws, tillers, and on and on!  This has become a lost art; big city dwellers, and suburbanites, have become hostages to big city taxes, that supposedly take care of all of your needs…. Lately, we see that they really DON’T, and yet the taxes endlessly increase and multiply.


So GO.  Find your place, and go as soon as you can!  Raise your family THERE!  (That’s one of the main reasons to go- to save THEM)!  

Don’t get trapped in a place that is in reality a HIGH RISE NURSING HOME!  This is the alternative to a real, truly Paleo type of life!!

Be a Good Paleo Tribal Member- Not a UsefulI Idiot Globalist Dem!


 We are living in strange times, where someone who is for free speech, and for the enhancement of their own tribe and group, and for things like truth and justice is painted as evil!  A white supremacist if you desire crime enforcement, a hater if you support property rights, and a liar if you support the objective truth.  This is what we have come to in the United States, and really in the western world.


Trump, whether you liked him or not, was an unwavering force for good, and for righteousness for all.  A good tribal leader!  Not perfect (no one is), but a tireless protector of timeless Western values.  And remember: western values are civilization nowadays, since civilization itself is now Western Civilization!


So, it is important, now that we have the opposite of Trump in power, that we all come together as a Western Tribe to restore the values and foundations of our own civilization that we have inherited- that was built for us, their descendants, by our ancestors.  


Our president, who is obviously mentally deficient, is really just a tool for the globalist socialist/communists, who are bent on redistributing all wealth from us, who have worked and saved to build it, and transfer it (supposedly) to those who have basically done and achieved nothing. Because, as they would put it: it’s only fair.   


It’s not at all fair, obviously, but there is far more to their plan:  The wealth transfer, along with all power, is actually to the socialist/communist leaders, not to the useful idiots who support their lies enthusiastically.  They will be put into the gulags, or forced labor/starvation camps right along with everyone else who opposed these ‘leaders’.  


So there it is:  is you support Biden, Bernie, Merkel, Macron, and all the other so-called ‘compassionate leaders’ who support things like importing endless amounts of primitive, low IQ people from the 3rd World, you are a traitor.  To your people, your tribe, your children, and all of our descendants - along with our ancestors, who built the civilization we enjoyed!  We do not have the right to throw it away.  Even if it is our of stupidity, ignorance, and most of all- indoctrination.  Our infiltrated, awful public school systems are in the vanguard of this traitorous destruction.


Ironically, LIBERALS are on the wrong side of every single issue there is:


Climate Change- a total lie, a blatant power grab, that will kill fossil fuels, nuclear power, and every other form of real, actual power generation!  Leaving us with raptor killing,  near useless, hideous wind turbines that will eventually leave us freezing in the dark of WINTER.  There is no global warming; the true danger that is ultimately inevitable it the next Ice Age.  Ask the dinosaurs about the last one…


Proper diet and lifestyle- the liberal, fake scientism view (scientism is phony science belief, not the actual science of now, not 50 years ago) that ‘fat is bad, red meat causes all ills, including fake climate warming, and that all vegetables are wonderful, and a grain based diet is perfect.’  ‘Calories are all that matter in diet- just eat less calories and you will lose fat and be healthy.’  

Also, that long sessions of cardio are ideal, and strength training is absolutely worthless for health and wellness.  

I could go on and on, but as a paleo person, in a healthy tribe that gets out into nature regularly, lives in a rural environment, sleeps a good 8 hours nightly, and has close relationships with a family and tribe that all share similar beliefs that are based in the Western tradition of home and hearth; why, you can recognize all of the nonsense you are fed by the governmental leftists!


But now, with the Democrats controlling most of everything, it is time to stand up and be counted.  First, protect your nuclear family: Move out of a large city, if you are in one.  Get a rural property, in the exurbs, or in a small town.  Preferably in a Red State!  Ironically, you will be in competition for these properties with self-proclaimed Leftists who are moving out of the Socialist ‘Paradises’ (like California, New York, Illinois, and many other states) that have created the nightmares that these areas have become by voting like the deluded souls that they are.


Get a gun, preferably several, and stock up on ammunition.  (It’s already getting hard to find)!   People know what’s coming.  Learn to use them, well.  Plant a big garden, and stock up on meat.  Stockpile various foods, like rice, coconut oil, and canned goods, and learning to hunt would be a good skill to have.  Having a good tractor and a chain saw is always a great way to self-sufficiency.


And, especially if you are younger, and have children in schools aka indoctrination centers- either home school, or else find a good private school that teaches our timeless western values.  

Get involved in local politics.  Small government is the best government, and if we can get good conservative, responsive-to-their-electorate politicians in place, they can do a lot to fight back against self serving, rubber stamp to Democrat politicians who only want to stay in office, and doing nothing for their constituents.  

Get involved in the PTA, and anything else to do with the local school system that you are a part of.  Speak up, and let them know your mind and values!  


And above all- as a Paleo person?  Stay healthy!  Do not rely on the medical system (which is very liberal and government dependent, after all), and will unerringly lead you into drugs and prescriptions rather than back to health.  Be Self Reliant; in health, but then again in all things! 

Government will not save you, no- they are the ultimate enemy.  In the end, they would love to replace you with low intelligence, low skilled total dependents, who will reliably and always vote for liberal, Big Government, which will promise to support them…

But what is left unsaid is that the level you will be supported will be far, far lower than what you could provide for yourself- particularly if Big Government would leave you (and the rest of us) ALONE!  Of course, because the money provided for you, and everyone else, will be mainly confiscated by the PARTY ELITE.  


Sound familiar?  That is because it has been done, and repeated, so many times throughout history.  And the result is always complete disaster!  


So, stay healthy, both in body and mind.  Don’t watch network news, or TV at all.  Seek out conservative news on the internet.  And beware of anything you hear from the government- find the real truth, not the canned ‘feel good liberal’ version.  We will get through this; we have to: for our children, and our grandchildren!

Religion is in our DNA podcast

 

It’s strange: as paleo people, we believe that our diet evolved along with us, making us what we are.  For instance, there has never, ever, been a vegetarian or vegan tribe or culture. Humans have always eaten animal products, some more than others, but ALL rely on the amazing nutrition in animal derived foods.  Eating animals and products taken from animals made us what we are- you can’t take animals out of our evolution and arrive at modern humans.


This is widely accepted amongst those who believe in an ancestral diet and lifestyle.  But, though most of us see ourselves as grounded in science in our beliefs, many of us at the same time deny the truth, or meaning of religion in our lives!  We denigrate the idea of a god, or of any universal laws outside of man’s own laws.  Many believe that science has displaced the idea of God, gods, or even religion itself.


But just because there has never been a culture that didn’t eat animals- there has never been a culture without religion.  Never.  Even the Neanderthals had burials of their dead, with flowers heaped on the departed.  There is something deep within us that requires us to believe in a spiritual world, a place beyond the mortal sphere in which we reside today.  And so it has always been!


To live without a notion of a spiritual realm, a place of higher goodness and ultimate laws and reason, is akin to eating processed foods developed in the past 50 years or so, and thinking that we now know better than nature itself, and can replace wild game, vegetables, fruits and nuts with chemically made ‘Beyond Burgers’ and do just as well, health wise.  


This is completely delusional!  To live on fast food, processed grains and vegetable seed oils is disastrous for our physical health and well-being, and is a fast track to auto-immune diseases and even mental health.  We all know this as followers of various renditions of the Paleo Diet, and we all experience first hand the amazing benefits of red meat, seafood, pastured dairy and fermented vegetables.  The Paleo Diet is nothing short of life changing!


But what about religion?  Aren’t we beyond that now, since after all we know there are no supernatural beings on Mt. Olympus, and doesn’t Heaven seem, well, unscientific?  


Well, only if you also believe that eating natural animal products and seafood is ‘unscientific’, and that a low fat, soy based diet of lab grown food-like substances slathered in chemically extracted seed oils is the epitome of true science and all-knowing enlightenment…  


We evolved eating and living a certain way- in Nature, in a circadian cycle with the sun of light and darkness, sleep and waking.  Ancestral types of foodstuffs,  cooked by fire and thus made bio-available with maximum nutrients.  In tribes of similar humans, working together for survival, and with good health as pretty much a birthright.  


The tribe had a center though, it always did, and that center was religion.  It is as much a part of us as our need for protein and fat- we need a higher plane to relate to, something above and beyond our daily lives.  


This was true all over the world- whether one god or many, whether Socrates’ daemon (literally a ‘divine something’) that warned him of right and wrong, or the many Hindu gods or those of the Egyptians or Babylonians.   It’s true, there are always some who do not believe in a particular god or gods, but there is always something that is worshipped.  Always.  


Just because, right now, certain groups (Communists spring to mind) that vehemently deny and denigrate any sort of religion- this only confirms that they are very wrong.


Mankind can, at certain times and places, put himself as ‘above and beyond needing to believe in a higher power than himself’.  He can even believe it, just as he believes that heaven can exist here upon earth, and if we just elect the right people, Utopia can be here forever!  


You can believe it, you can convince yourself that Science is God, and mankind is ALL, we just need to be modern and believe in ourselves…


But you’ll be wrong.  The need for religion, a higher power, is there.  It is in our very DNA.

Hygge- Why You Need it on PJSC podcast


First, I’d better tell you what hygge (pronounced hue-guh) means: it is a Danish word to describe a special moment or feeling.  There is no English equivalent word, but several put together can approximate this concept- cosiness, charm, happiness, ‘contentness’, security, familiarity, comfort, reassurance, kinship, and simpleness.

And so, the conscious creation of a special moment in a certain time and place that such a wonderful feeling of intimacy and friendliness- that is hygge!  To me, it is a type of motionless, indoor forest walking; consciously becoming one with your simple environment and your companions in a moment of shared contentedness.  I like the concept of ‘cozy’ most of all- as in Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, when Scrooge is shown by the ghost of Christmas Present the little kitchen of Bob Cratchett, in which sits his entire family including Tiny Tim.  The kitchen is humble, and the family is poor, but they are all happy together, celebrating their thrifty Christmas dinner.  Scrooge is touched, he doesn’t know it, but he is witnessing Hygge, Victorian English style!

It is thought that the long, sunless winters in Denmark gave birth to this concept of the preciousness of hygge.  Small, delightful moments in one’s life can illuminate both the mind and spirit in the midst of even an otherwise gloomy existence!  Sprinkle enough bright moments throughout your day, and then each and every day can be a delight, filled with times to cherish.

My Christmas was absolutely wonderful this year, filled with a snowy landscape, candles in all the windows, and my family, both grandchildren included, playing with their presents about the tree.  I grilled a ham, slathered in orange marmalade, (I know, not too paleo, but it was Christmas!), and we had mashed sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and we’re all so full that no one wanted dessert- although we were able to eat some chocolates from the Sweet Shop in La Crosse’s north side, which were amazing.  They make their own candies with equipment that must have come from Dicken’s London, with real ingredients, from scratch!

Needless to say, that is a day of endless Hygge!  It is so much, that it wears you out, and you are happy to fall into bed.  But now, two days later: a day long rain has come, and the temps are in the 40’s- unheard of at this time in Wisconsin!  The snow has been washed away, but I have achieved hygge several times already today, even though it is still raining, and dark now, at 4:30 PM.  The electric candles in all the windows, and the lit Christmas tree helps, as did my book reading in my favorite easy chair, feet up and a cup of green tea by my side.  My wife sleeping on the couch, with two sleeping felines, one on the couch back, the other on her leg, and a small space heater blowing gently onto us both.  And I had just before gone down to the cellar, doing pushups on my gymnastic rings, and flies, and rows, then a series of isometric presses on the power rack- and so now, I was deliciously exhausted and content- hygge!

And so, you see you can achieve this state of hygge almost anywhere, if you set your mind to it.  It takes no money, very little time, and does wonders for your mood and state of mind- it’s rather like a form of meditation or prayer.  An attitude of gratefulness permeates you’re entire being.

I remember years ago, when I was a mailman.  It was a rainy, cold winter day, much like today, and I was soaked through.  I had heated up my lunch using the microwave at the old folk’s home on my route, and had parked along the shoreline of Lake Onalaska on a dead end road.  The dark waves tossed before me, and I cranked the heater in that mail truck onto high.  I unpacked my lunch of a small steak and veggies, mixed into white rice, and lit a small candle that I kept in my truck.  

That did it!  As the steam rose from the drying raincoat I had taken off and that was hanging beside me, I tasted the wonderful food, as the candle flame shed a golden glow across the drab interior of that ancient truck.  I didn’t see an eagle that day as I ate (I often did), but still, although I didn’t know the word to describe my feeling at that time, I do now-  HYGGE.

Your TRUE Paleo Tribe is LOCAL podcast on PQTD


One of the ways in which we have betrayed our genetic heritage, along with abandoning the eating of real, God made foods, is to try to claim allegiance to ‘global’ ideals rather than concentrating on our own tribe.  For human beings evolved as tribal, social animals, just as wolves are pack animals and cattle are herd animals.  Such small, regional, and racially similar groupings are necessary for smooth, healthy functioning of both our local society, and for the health of the individual within that group.  Only in such a fashion are we naturally equipped to maximize both our mental and physical health.

Just as big, industrialized processed food has replaced good, pastured meats and vegetables with high fructose corn syrup laden concoctions of unnaturally altered strains of wheat and GMO foods- so too has our natural, native attachment to those of our own genetic type rather than to an artificially big government mandated ‘globalism’.  We are told to erase our borders, to interbreed with other of nations and cultures and races completely incompatible with our own, and we are told this is good and only fair.  This is complete nonsense, and actually a form of cultural and racial suicide!

When we are with other who are like us, with similar points of view, cultural assumptions, and intelligence- it is then that we are in our natural, healthy state.  This is the sort of group that makes up our tribe.  In a group such as this, there is a high level of innate trust, with very low crime, and a natural coming together of all to work together to accomplish things for the tribe.  It’s actually just common sense, and was pretty much assumed by members of all peoples of all the human races since the beginning of time itself.  We evolved this way!

Any time before now in history, it would have been seen as absurd to import people from far away, and in many cases natural enemy tribes and peoples into our own.  People with different gods, different assumptions about how to treat women, children, and even peoples such as ourselves, the tribe importing them; why, taking in people, like Muslims, who have been our open enemies and the enemies of Western Civilization for thousands of years is the height of folly.

And yet, we are doing it, both here, and even more so in Europe!  This just goes to show how far we have fallen in matters of common sense: just as our great grandparents and previous generations would have never given up eating high fat meat and dairy products and replace them with a low fat, high carb diet of sugary junk- so to would none of our forebears have allowed, much less subsidized parasitic, low IQ people into our civilization that have actually committed to destroying us and our culture.  

What are other things that our ancestors knew to be true, and what are things we do commonly now that they would never, ever do?  Well, we consent to live in large, crowded, crime-infested cities.  We live in little boxes high in the air, cut off from the nature in which we evolved to live, breathing polluted air and drinking chlorine and fluoride contaminated water.  Of course, as I mentioned, our food is largely completely devoid of nutrition, and overloaded with calories.  We don’t see animals in their native state, with which we have had a symbiotic relationship since the beginning of our evolution.

Our meats are raised in CAFO’s, or confined animal feeding operations, where they are fed unnatural (for them) grains, that marble them with fat, and load them up with enough antibiotics to keep their unhealthy bodies alive long enough to slaughter.  We even farm our fish, and so all of us are miserable and unhappy together!

In a way, we in the modern world are also raised in our own Human CAFO’s, confined into little cubicles where all we do is stare at screens all day for work, and all night at home for entertainment!  Most of us never feel the grass beneath our bare feet, never know the exhilaration of cutting a tree, stacking wood, hunting, or growing a garden.  It is, in a way, like going through a shadowy life in limbo, never actually having lived at all…

My advice to anyone, be they young or old, is to get out of the city and suburbs, the metropolitan areas.  Small cities are better, small towns and rural areas are the best for real, paleo, tribal, natural living!  Here there is nature, and also a human scale of government, where everyone has a voice, and the predominant voice is one of common sense.  The larger scale you go to, whether it is national government, big corporations, big medicine and big pharmaceuticals, big unions- these large scale operations are inevitably corrupt.  Limousine liberals, who have allegiance only to their elite circles of privilege.   Crime and immigrants are kept far from their gated communities at gunpoint; you, however- at least if you live in a big metropolitan area- will be denied firearms at all do defend yourself!  The elite have largely become the epitome of hypocrisy.

Even if you can, do not ally yourself with this group of elite globalists.  They have sold their souls for money and power, and the rest of us are just tools for them to use.  Escape them as best you can- go rural young man and woman!  I have spoken with people who are living good, paleo lives with their tribes and families.  Many are in the midwest, like me, but they are many places in the US I have found.  

I talked with one from Canada, Kelowna was the town, and it looked like a delightful area, even way up there.  And there are tribal folks, good people all, who are living as nature, God, and evolution intended us to live in Texas, Kentucky,Virginia, Vermont and New England.Australia, New Zealand, rural England  and Ireland- the list goes on and on.  Almost every European country is an outpost of Western Civilization, spread throughout the world.  Unless they have been destroyed by some self-styled “elitists” of one stripe or another, then there is a strong element of trust in the culture, and with hard work you can make yourself happy and fulfilled there.

Hopefully, the immigration will dwindle drastically.  Europe is at the point where they need to actually send many back to where they came from!  Those people need to build and improve their own countries, not escape to and be supported by us.  Even the Dalai Lama has come out in favor of this recently.

Every tribe needs their own valley, their own “cave”, their own mountainside or island.  Our destiny is among our own tribe, our own people.  We must provide for ourselves!  We are free to give to other tribes - but only on our terms, not the terms of the global elites- and we should only give to help them to build their own lands.  To help to learn them fish, as it is said, rather than to give them endless food and everything else.  

Every people needs their own land.  With either a stout wall, or else like the Spartans or the Swiss- enough weapons in every household to defend those lands against invaders, and migrants!  For, in the last analysis- those are really the same thing.

PJSC Podcast #120 Health is the new Wealth!

Oftentimes I feel that the whole Paleo movement is just about repackaging timeless, age-old ideas into a modern format.  So much of the ancestral health movement is just that- ancestral!  This means time-tested, real world health solutions to real world problems.
The irony is that so many of what we think of as intractable problems with our health and diet have been dealt with and solved for centuries!  We have just come to the point where we don’t think we need to look to the past for answers, we just need to look to our medical professionals instead, since they already know the answers to everything health related…
They don’t!  By and large our current “medical professionals” have thrown out the baby with the bath water- they have willy-nilly discarded the wisdom of the past, by and large, and replaced it with drug therapy.  This means treating the symptoms of a disease (dry mouth, stomach pain, joint pain, IBS, etc. etc. etc.), with a drug.  There is not even an attempt anymore to try to identify the cause, and actually cure the disease at its source!
Many, many diseases and conditions have been found to be cured completely by proper, paleo nutrition, meaning replacing modern processed and altered foods with traditional, nature and God made foods that humankind has been eating for millennia!  But somehow, we have reached the point where such simple, common sense solutions as eliminating altered grains such as wheat, cutting way back on sugar (which was consumed very sparingly thought our history), and actually eating and prizing dietary fats (which were highly prized throughout most of our successful evolution), these ideas have been denigrated!
We simply need to get back to basics- back to the future!  EAT as our ancestors ate! (High fat, very low carb- carbs were hard to come by throughout most of history)!
MOVE as our ancestors moved!  NOT lifting super heavy, joint destroying weights regularly, or running very long distances, (which also destroys joints and muscle)- simply by walking around a lot.  Like our great grandparents did- walking into town.  To the post office, the grocery store, the barber or hairdresser.  To the hardware store, to buy nails to construct a shed yourself, and maybe some cement to mix and pour (yourself!) in a wheelbarrow, and lay down for the floor…
YOU GET THE IDEA!?  We were always meant to “do for ourselves”, and that does not mean building a giant 401K or IRA by being a business tycoon, and then expecting “others” to do everything for us that now we don’t need to do for ourselves, since we are too “above it”.  That’s not how life works!
If you DO become a big Richie Rich, and can hire everyone to cater to your every whim- that is when you start to die.
Movement is life.  Real work and striving is life!  If you reach the point where you just sit while you are catered to, you might as well be in a nursing home… you are no longer a vital, valued human being, with skills and the ability to work for the “tribe”.  In paleolithic human terms, you are already dead.
And, even though you have gained millions, perhaps, you would have been far better served by spending your life doing what you could for yourself, exercising daily in a perfectly paleo and sustainable way to preserve your joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments, and maintaining your flexibility, strength and endurance to what it was when you were a young man or woman!
If you had only eaten real foods, and lived as humans are evolved to live, maybe you would not have wound up in a hospital bed at an early age, and been forced to spend all of the money you had accumulated instead of actually living a real, natural, paleo life…
Indeed, health is the new wealth!  WITHOUT your health, and the ability to actually enjoy and experience true life, movement, and happiness-
Wealth is absolutely meaningless.

PaleoJay's Smoothie Cafe #108 Everyday Life in Utopia

I could not resist this podcast title, which I read in the last chapter of Gretchen Rubin’s latest book, Better than Before.  Gretchen’s excellent book concludes with a quote from her daughter which of course was Every Day Life in Utopia.  The book is how to change our habits, in other words how to change ourselves and what we do on a daily basis for the better- exactly what I want us all to do here at PaleoJay’s Smoothie Cafe!

WHY do I recommend that you eat an Ancestral, or Paleo type of diet, without grains and sugar, organic veggies and pastured meats and eggs?  Why, in the final analysis, it’s so you will be healthier, and this in itself means you will be happier, i.e. better than before!

And if you couple this eating strategy of eating God and nature made foods, and eschewing man made processed “foods” with an ancestral lifestyle that includes plenty of sleep, brief and intense sessions of exercise balanced by sessions of rest and “tribal” connections of family, friends and neighbors, and you make sure to get out and move in the sunshine and in nature- why, then you will be better than before!  And you will be able to title your life Everyday Life in Utopia, just as I now do.

So many people, and I mean most people seem hell bent on pursuing WEALTH at all costs!  When they are young, they set these monetary goals, and they don’t set them aside no matter what!  They work largely sedentary jobs, for long hours away from what really matters (their family, friends, house and garden), and short-change themselves on sleep to “get ahead”.  It’s all measured in dollars...

They “don’t have time for exercise”, or getting to sleep early- then, they sleep later than they should in the morning, and either get a processed fast food meal on the run, or else just grab some processed crap like a bowl of GMO Gluten Happy Sugar Puff Flakes, and top it with skimmed “sugar milk” and also enjoy some “sugar water” orange juice!  And the worst thing of all is- they also put this garbage in the bodies of their most precious possessions- their own children!

This is the state of America today, by and large- we are spending our health to gain wealth!

It’s like a pact with the devil, or with MON-satan!  And then, when you are getting older, the health you have ignored for all of these years is gone- wrecked- kaput!  And at that point, you would gladly trade your wealth to regain your health- but that’s not how it works.

You may think you can go to a clinic or hospital, and they will give you pills and surgeries that will make you healthy again- but that is just a misleading mirage put forth by the drug companies and the hospitals and clinics to get your money.  The truth is that pharmaceutical drugs do NOT restore health; they merely mask symptoms at great cost, both in terms of money, and more importantly in side effects that are often worse than the disease symptom they are trying to mask!

So do it- go Paleo!  Live in accordance with the timeless laws of God and nature, in the way in which we have evolved.  Take a tip from our grandparents, live as they did!  Drink bone broth to heal your gut, which is damaged from GMO grains, and an open highway to autoimmune diseases.  Have a green smoothie each day, loaded with veggies, kefir, spices and fruit!  Just eat real foods!!

And then you too will be living Every Day Life in Utopia!

Take your Farmaceuticals daily- cure yourself AND the world!

Any listener of any length here at Paleo Quick Tip of the Day knows that I, PaleoJay, believe that FOOD is the best medicine.  Hippocrates, the founder of western medicine declared this roughly 2000 years ago, and although his modern so called disciples have discarded his teachings in favor of ever-increasing dosages of pharmaceutical DRUGS-

Food is the best medicine is as true now as it ever was!!

Although nowadays, where and how your food is grown is every bit as important!

We all know now that the human gut biome, that is our intestinal flora are crucial to our health. For instance, a recent study pointed out that artificial sweeteners encourage fat gain. The theory was that the artificial sweeteners, such as those in unsweetened soda pop, altered the gut biome since they are totally alien to our evolved symbiotic relation with our ancestral gut microbes.

In other words, our gut sensed SWEET, and switched on the fat storage, even though there was no honey or fructose to process...

but the fat storage trigger was engaged, and fat was produced!

So, drink artificially sweetened products and get fat quick!  And long term, too, since it doesn’t appear to switch OFF.

To return to my main point: Just as our Gut Biome is loaded with microbes we have a long history with, that help us to regulate our health, our moods and mental health, and how we extract life-giving nutrients from real foods-

So is the soil where we grow our foods loaded with microbes that we have a symbiotic, historic and ancestral relationship with completely necessary for our health, proper fat to body weight ratio, and mental health as well!

We all need to rethink our allegiance to pharmaceutical drugs!  They are poisons except for short term, emergency use- they are like Agent Orange in our bodies!

Paleo Quick Tip of the Day 34- Fat is Our Friend

PQTD #34  The One Paleo Food You Don’t Eat Nearly Enough of... FAT

The one thing that almost no one, including paleo lifestyle folks eats enough of is indeed FAT! Good, satisfying, God made fat, as in kill and eat the fatted calf, and cook it in cream and coconut oil!

I have just finished Jimmy Moore’s latest book Keto Clarity, and I must say that, although I am quite paleolithic in my diet, even I do not eat enough fat!  I eat a lot by normal standards, but not up to 80% of my diet by any means...  And, to get to a ketogenic (or fat burning) state where the body and brain is running on ketones, which are the human bodies perfect fuel- fat needs to make up at least 50% or so of the diet!

I mean real fat, as I said above: NOT crisco, margarine, vegetable oils, cool whip, or any other MAN made fake fat or food.  I mean heavy whipping cream, pastured butter, coconut oil, avocados, eggs (especially the yolks) full fat cream cheese, sour cream, bacon and cream cheese!  These foods, along with green leafy and cruciferous veggies and a small amount of protein from your grass fed beef, seafood, pork and chicken become the ketones that your body needs to run best on.  AND, once you get the process underway by eating enough fats to kick start your switch over to a fat burning ancestral human instead of a SAD sugar burning modern American, why then your body can supplement the process by easily accessing and burning your OWN fat stores!  Now this is a big win win.

Of course, we are also talking about limiting carbs here dramatically- but it is quite easy to do so, once you are getting enough fat, because you are never hungry - fat is that satiating.

The health benefits of a ketogenic diet are amazing- for brain health, depression, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, headaches- it’s almost as if you name it, burning ketones from fat is the cure!  Not to mention the obvious, that the more fat you eat, the more fat your body loses...counterintuitive, but completely true nonetheless.

So, make yourself a big meal of , oh, 4 pastured eggs scrambled with sour cream, a few bacon strips, paleo coffee with a teaspoon or so of coconut oil dissolved in it and topped with whipped cream...still hungry?  Oh, I forgot your daily Paleo smoothie- along with all the veggies, kefir, eggs, berries and all the rest you are also going to add in a big slab of Kerrygold butter and an avocado...

Sip that along with your little breakfast, and I absolutely guarantee you won’t be hungry for a long, long time- you won’t want of need a snack, and your body will start to get the idea that hey- Fat is our friend!  We don’t need it on our bellies and thighs because we can get it from our food anytime we want!

PaleoJay's Smoothie Cafe #66- MORE on Resistant Starch! EEEYAYUH!

The more I look into this resistant starch thing, the more I think it is a really big discovery!  It could be the one, single, most important ignored component of human health, both in conventional Big Medicine (no surprise there), but also in the Paleo, or ancestral health movement.

It makes sense it you think of it... we have been concentrating on the most nutrient dense, the most pure of toxins types of foods we could find- trying to replicate a diet as it would have been eaten in our primeval past, pre-agriculture- when we were taller, stronger, far fitter, and had a 10% larger brain capacity!  And all the children were above average...

In other words, we have been on a quest to find those foods that best nourish us- the human part of us.  But we have paid scant attention to the microbes in our gut that help to nourish us and keep us healthy and happy- and they are a larger part of our own bodies, by far, than WE ARE!  To quote from the upcoming title of a book by Richard Nicholey of freetheanimaland Tim Steele of North Pole, Alaska...

You’re Only 10% of Who You Think You Are

Or- 90% of each is non-human!  Yikes!  I guess we shouldn’t have been ignoring that other 90%, and be sure to give all of them, our little buddies, some nutrient dense, paleo/microbial food as well...  And so, we come to Resistant Starch.

Our paleolithic ancestors ate LOTS of indigestible plant matter, pretty much all day long, to get to the parts of the plant they could digest- stems, raw tubers, leaves, unknown little plants, and of course dirt all wound up in his mouth, and eventually, his gut!  The microbes that already resided in his gut in symbiosis used all of this plant material for food and drink, and more beneficial microbes were often introduced through the soil and other incidental dietary “additions”.

Fast forward to today, and we, uh, are not exactly partial anymore to stems, leaves, bits of nutshells, etc.... and so, we have- potato starch!!  Ta da! Bob’s potato starch is... a resistant starch!  Resistant to our own stomach digesting it, that is.  And so, it can pass right on through our stomach, unmolested, and not raising our blood sugar at all, making us feel really full and satisfied, however.  Into our intestine or gut it ends up, and our little bacterial gut buddies say “Hurrah”, and start eating it like crazy, and then...
Multiplying!  More good gut buddies!  Add more potato starch, and repeat cycle.

So, what good does resistant starch, easily added in the form of Bob’s Potato Starch available in bags almost everywhere, including at Amazon- see PaleoJay’s Smoothie Cafe recommended products!- what will this do for me, if I add the recommended 4 Tablespoons per day to my daily smoothie, whipped up in my Vitamix blender?
Well, it will help you lose weight!  I mean FAT; weight is somewhat irrelevant...  Anyway, this stuff is really filling, and takes away hunger.  But at the same time it’s not digested, and won’t add to your dietary calories.  And, it seems to assist your body in burning fat stores, and resist fat storage!  There are so many studies that have gone on, and so many currently happening, that it seems over the top, but resistant starch is being implicated in:

You really can’t resist- Resistant Starch!

OK, here is the answer you’ve been searching for- just HOW can you reliably get really, really big, sloppy, jiggly FAT?  Everyone wants to know how to do this, right?  Well, let me tell you right now- your old friend Pale
oJay has the answer!  I can tell you exactly how to get real fat in record time, easily and quickly!

First off- count your calories!  They are all that matter, after all, right?  So, count your calories closely, so you can start to consciously limit them.  Because, if you limit your calories to less than your body wants, you’ll lose weight, correct?  Some of that weight, perhaps even most of it will be muscle and bone, but hey- the weight is all that matters- the scale.

Next, limit your fat intake!  Fat has more calories per ounce than any other nutrient source, so you must try to eliminate fat from your diet!  Eat lots of healthy, whole grain products- processed cereals, low fat processed foods of all types, and lots of industrial seed vegetable oils.  Don’t even think about butter or bacon or, God forbid, coconut oil!  High fat all!

Exercise for long, long periods of time, extremely slowly and preferably on a metered cardio machine that counts exactly how many calories you burn each session.  ! hour per day is good; 2,3, or 4 hours daily is even better!  Move more and eat less, right?

Ignore food quality!  A calorie is a calorie is a calorie!  And so, you are better off eating a 100 calorie snack pack of cookies, rather than that avocado with over 300 calories!  Wash those yummy cookies down with a big Coca Cola, (100 calories), and you have saved 100 calories by not eating that evil avocado- pat yourself on the back.

Don’t train intensely, for strength!  Muscle weighs much more than fat, and your scale weight will look really bad- so stop doing resistance training!  NOW!

Also- don’t drink your calories- things like smoothies are LOADED with calories, and useless things like nutrients, that will NOT help you get really fat.  Instead, concentrate on  probably the most important tool in your “Get Fat” toolbox:

Eat LOTS of grains and sugars!   These two items will pack on the FAT better than anything else.They are low fat, even NO fat for the most part, and so they will spike your insulin after your blood sugar is driven way up high.  You will then have your blood sugar drop from the insulin, triggering new appetite for... more carbs and sugar!  This will repeat the cycle, over and over... and you will never feel full, because your blood sugar keeps rising and falling!

So, there you have it!  How to get really fat, and sick, and diabetic, and disease prone.

What?  You’d rather get lean, fit, and super healthy?  Well, there’s no accounting for taste, but that’s easy- just do exactly the opposite of all of that conventional wisdom!

Eliminate grains and sugars from your diet as much as possible.

Drink a large, green Paleo Smoothie, loaded with every nutrient you can pack into it, every single day.

Train intensely, for strength and strength-endurance- do you Perfectly Paleo Exercises daily- visualized resistance, self resisted, pushups, straight legged situps, hindu squats and pushups; bridging.  Buy a set of gymnastic rings, and make or buy a kettlebell!  Sprint.

Pay close attention to food quality, and nutrient density.  You are what you eat, and in the case of animals, you are what you eat ate!  Eat wild caught seafood, and grass fed animals whenever possible.  Pastured dairy products are also immeasurable better for you.

Exercise in brief, intense working sets!  FEEL your muscles working, and learn to relish the feeling- your body craves such work.

Eat LOTS of fat, to get lean!  This is key- fat will satisfy your appetite like nothing else, and there is good reason- your body needs good quality, natural God made fats more than any other category of nutrients.  Fat is needed to run our brains, and every cell in our body.  Fat- it does a body good!

And lastly, NEVER count, obsess, or limit your calories as a means to control your body weight or composition.  This just teaches your body to panic, and hold onto every bit of fat it can, and store even more, since it thinks you are starving.  Eat until satisfied, with plenty of real God made foods, and you won’t be hungry again for a long time.

And so, that’s how to get fat, or get lean; your choice!  But, I do have a couple of more tips for you on the leanness side:
