Undoctored podcast episode on PaleoJay's Smoothie Cafe

Dr. William Davis has introduced a new course on his website www.wheatbelly.com   He is calling it undoctored, which I believe is a brilliant  name for what he is stating- which is that modern medical clinics and most doctors have given up on actually healing, and have now instead concentrated on selling!

Selling us all surgeries and other procedures, along with loads of tests and drugs.  All are mainly done for sheer PROFIT.  The amount of money spent in the US on drugs alone is staggering, and the ability these drugs have to heal us, to make us health - is zero!  They may mask the symptoms, but without real lifestyle changes such as those I recommend here, the body will be unable to heal itself…

For make no mistake: only your own body can repair itself- no drugs or surgeries can do what your own body is capable of- for free.

It really is that simple.  One of the best things you can do is to stay away from the medical doctor’s office.  As I have long said, be your own doctor.  Read up on ancestral, paleo ways of living, eating, and exercising.  Banish wheat and most grains entirely from your diet, and sharply limit sugars and carbohydrates.

Replace those fake foods with lots and lots of vegetables, along with some fruits.  A smoothie each morning is probably the ideal way to do this last, and it makes the process easy and enjoyable.  Pack that smoothie with as much good stuff as you can- follow my recipe at www.paleojay.com or else get the ebook Perfectly Paleo Exercise.

If you go to the medical clinic, I guarantee that you will be given powerful prescription medications, whether you have symptoms or not.  These clinics and hospitals have transformed over the past several decades, without most people noticing, from places of simple healing with common sense and uncomplicated tools, into hyper-huge and powerful bureaucracies, intent on generating the maximum revenue and profit.  The bottom line, not the healed and happy patient!

These Patient Mills are places to avoid as much as possible.  Just as you don’t go to a greasy used car salesman on a regular basis, looking for “deals”- don’t go into the clinic when you feel good, just because they want you to.  They find it in their interest to make staying healthy complicated and mysterious.  It’s NOT!  Staying healthy was very well known how to do in earlier times, and if our great grandparents could do it, why can’t we?  They didn’t load themselves up with drugs and surgeries, both of which were unavailable.

They ate the best foods they could find, real foods, prepared in their home, not in factories.  They lived lives of physical labor, that kept them fit, and slept long hours each night.  Most lived in small towns, with a close-knit “tribal” kind of connection, and went to church each week.  Most folks in America prayed, which is really a form of meditation.  It’s really only recently that we’ve gotten so far off track in our notions of health, but we’ve gotten so far off track that it is vital to turn your ship around, now.

So, become Undoctored!  Listen to paleo podcasts, read books about the subject, and most importantly walk the walk.  Once you understand that your health is your own responsibility, you have taken the first step on the wonderful journey of looking great, and feeling even better.

Just eliminate wheat!

Ancient wheat was one thing...

It took people away from hunting and gathering, and made their nutrition much worse, of course.
(Much less in the way of nutrients, and more in the way of anti-nutrients).

But that is an ancient tale!  Let's move into the present:

Modern Wheat was developed in the 1970's, in a response to the perceived food shortage that loomed before us.  The poor would starve!  In a well-meaning effort, geneticists developed wheat strains (and this was pre-GMO) that would out produce any wheat in existence- in spades!


The result- wheat crops that produced huge amounts of "wheat"... unfortunately, this "wheat" was not the same as the biblical wheat that had existed for so long.  It had... more lectins (anti-nutrients), and otherwise so confused our digestive systems that it started causing:


  1. The greatest epidemic of diabetes in History
  2. Obesity to run rampant
  3. Heart disease to affect vast numbers
And that is just a few effects of modern wheat!

If you would try one thing, and one thing only in your life, I would recommend this:

Eliminate Wheat!

Don't try to do anything else.  Just get this one thing out of your diet!  Eat sugar.  Smoke cigarettes.  Do whatever- but don't eat wheat.  Try it for a month.

This one experiment will prove to you that you don't need to suffer high blood pressure, acid reflux, obesity, diabetes... isn't that enough?

Just get rid of wheat for one month!

If you do that one thing, I believe you will be convinced!

That's about 50% of the battle...

We can deal with the rest later.

What if DIET, what you actually ATE each day, was 80% or MORE of the "fitness equation"??

AND, at the same time, it was true that EXERCISE was only 20%... at MOST!!??

That would sure get ME off of my treadmill/cycle/jogging/obsessive-compulsive exercise routine!

AND, it HAS!

Bottom line for fitness?

Eat a paleo style diet- no grains, lots of vegetables, fruits in moderation, good quality FATS, NO processed foods...

You won't believe how GREAT you will look, feel, and perform! (To borrow from Robb Wolfe).

And, you KNOW that the EASIEST way to achieve this Nirvana-like state is:

To have a Paleo Quick Start Smoothie each morning... and, probably some at lunch as well!

It's kind of like an "automatic transmission" for your health:

You make the smoothie... you drink it... you are HEALTHY!

No further effort necessary!

What if wheat is ALL we need to eliminate?

I know, it seems beguiling; it certainly is to me...

ALL the stuff we paleo peeps do, what if it all boils down to:

NO WHEAT!



After all, as Robb Wolfe  so eloquently put it in his interview with Dr. William Davis, the author of "Wheat Belly":

"Wheat is the devil's excrement!", or something to that effect.

The Alien/Frankenstein/Dracula/Godzilla monster that wheat has been turned into is so monstrous...

What if we eliminated the DEVIL/WHEAT, aka "devil weed", and then just "Laid back"?

Had eggs for breakfast, had sardines & a cigar for lunch, drank a paleo quick start smoothie for dinner, (including everything vegetable-wise and nutrient-wise our body's need!) and then had beer with a raw egg, cheese, and some dark chocolate for a night time snack? Maybe even some (shudder) ice cream??

My own contention is that, if we also:

Slept a good 9 hours
Kept stress to a minimum
And worked out, with body-weight and self-resisted and visualized resistance exercise for maybe 20 minutes per day

We would be REALLY healthy!

I guess my point is that, given excellent nutrition, ample sleep, and and enough proper stimulation through functional exercise, we are given the rubric of good health- almost nothing can touch us!

But the incredible value of William Davis is that, he guides us away from the one insidious POISON that could do us in:

MODERN WHEAT!!

The one thing we're told by our government to eat MORE of!!
