1970’s Science in the Doctor’s Office podcast

This one thinks you might have some money left...


 If you are one of those people who run to the clinic to see a doctor for any little ailment, or just to get endless check ups to make sure you are all right; well, you are doing it all wrong my friend!  No offense, but medical interventions are usually the cause of more harm than good.


Iatrogenesis is the term that defines this: it means death by doctor.  This means that the treatment or examination you undergo causes harm.  Hippocrates, the founder of Western medicine from 2500 years ago in Greece, had as his fundamental tenet to early healers to first, do no harm!  In modern times, this prime directive has been discarded…


Death by doctor is now the third leading cause of death!  Now, does this make you want to visit your doctor more often?  I certainly hope not: I would advise you to live as people used to live until around the 1970’s in the US at least.  Back in the 50’s and 60’s, when I grew up, we only went to the doctor if we were gravely injured or on our deathbed from a real sickness.  Doctors could do things like set broken bones, or remove a ruptured appendix, or take a bullet out of your body.  They were like human bodywork mechanics, similar to their car repair similar types of workers.  Nothing fancy, they just tried to get the job done.


Now though?  Doctors and hospitals, which throughout time were places to avoid as much as possible, are now depicted as places to go to become and remain healthy.  We are all urged endlessly to go in, get examined (even if we feel great), and to search for ways to be ‘improved’ by medical interventions: drugs and surgeries; endless drugs and surgeries!


It is never mentioned that drugs, and surgeries- all have side effects.  Endless side effects, that are often far worse than the imagined ‘conditions’ we are told we have!  It has reached the point where, if you go in to get ‘checked out’, based upon only your age, say: they will prescribe all kinds of drugs to you!  (With all kinds of side effects that treat your supposed ‘conditions’ that the doctor has found within you.


You have to ask yourself this- do humans need drugs and surgeries to survive?  If this were true, we would have died out long ago- our grandparents never had this stuff done to them, and they lived long and happy lives, generally.  Childbirth was very dangerous in the old days, for both mother and child, and that has been largely solved.  Mainly by early discoveries of sanitation like washing hands between autopsies and deliveries, things like that…


But overall, our health since the 1970’s or so has steadily worsened.  The medical recommendations of low fat, high carb and sugar along with limited red meat has resulted in epidemics of heart disease and cancer, along with a skyrocketing of diabetes!


This is largely because we now have a health care system that is government regulated, and financed as well via employer insurance along with Medicare and Medicaid. Because we the public perceive that now we no longer have to pay for it- why, we will go to the doctor all the time!  It’s free, after all.  


So, the health care costs go up and up and up, far beyond what a normal person could really pay-  but we don’t care.  It’s “free”!  We agree to any shot or procedure, and surgery or bodily mutilation and especially to free drugs.  Drugs that mess with our minds and bodies beyond what anyone could have ever imagined just  a few decades ago…


All of this has even become political- the Leftist Democrat party of Big Government running  everything has destroyed our collective health in a huge way, and now recommend massive injections of toxic substances in the name of a vaccine that threaten the health of young children, with no reason at all, since the children are overwhelmingly not susceptible to the disease that is supposedly being protected against.  It is utter and complete nonsense, and actually evil.


Couple all of this with the fact that your typical health care provider or doctor, usually in simply a repository of 1970’s medical knowledge, ideas that are totally outdated and disproved by more modern findings- but they don’t know, don’t care, and aren’t even allowed to disagree with their clinic employers who call all the shots.


Be your own doctor, and your own clinic, just like in the old days.  Don’t put any drug into your body, unless you do massive research, and especially don’t unless you are really sick.  This Covid thing is real, but it is 99.96% survivable, unless you have totally ignored your health and become diabetic, sick, fragile and weak.  Then, it just might be the tiny push that pushes you over the edge- but then, you would have died soon anyway, since you are diabetic, sick, fragile, and weak.  


Most people wind up regretting both the drugs they are prescribed, and the surgeries they are told they “need”.  


Remember: your body is constantly healing itself!  


That is what it does, all of the time.  If you cut yourself, you cannot stop the cut from healing!  And so it is with all of your bodily ailments- they WILL heal themselves.  Only if you deny your body the good nutrients and building blocks it needs to thrive, will it fail: things like good, adequate animal based protein and fat and sufficient vitamins and minerals from that animal based nutrition.


If you insult your body with unnecessary surgeries and drugs recommended by your medical professionals, who you must remember above all that they profit hugely from everything they recommend:  well then, these will interfere with your body’s healing efforts.


Your body is a near-indestructible temple!  Give it what it needs- above all good, adequate, animal-based nutrition such as would be provided by good Paleolithic hunters, not modern 1970’s vegan fake/science medical providers, and also fortified with adequate sleep, along with avoidance of modern processed low fat fake foodstuffs, and living in sunlight and nature and with adequate exercise and pure air and water.  Do this, and if you can eliminate both medical doctors and interventions and the interference of horrible, self-serving big government agencies- 


Why, then you will be just fine!  YOU are your own best doctor.

Your MD is a Snake Oil Salesman podcast on Paleojays smoothie cafe


Now I don’t mean that all doctors are snake oil peddlers, showing up on your Main street with bottles of white lightning mixed with cocaine like they did in the old days… but, in many cases, not only are their many prescriptions often worthless, many are downright harmful.  Just as were those of those snake oil salesmen doctors in the 1800’s!  

Now, Clark Stanley was an archetypal medicine man of the old Western era, and his oil was sold far and wide throughout the U.S. Now, the original ‘snake oil’ was a real remedy from the fat of a Chinese water snake that figured large in Chinese medicine.  But the wild west alternative was usually liquor, turpentine, and chili peppers mixed with mineral oil.  Yum!  But oftentimes is also had opium also mixed in, and with the combination of the liquor, I’m sure it did make the drinker feel temporarily- well, if not better, well at least he was so dizzy he didn’t feel his aches and pains as acutely for a while.

Fast forward to today, and although doctors give the illusion of professionalism, of being ‘men and women of science’- truly, by and large they are not!  They are capable of amazing feats of last-ditch repair- kind of as auto mechanics of the human body, where they can keep you going after a bad wreck- but they know nothing of how to stay healthy.  Their nostrums and potions, the NSAIDS and statins, the high blood pressure medications, the anti-depressents and all the rest- they only treat the symptoms of whatever chronic sickness you have.  Nothing they do or recommend can treat the root cause; in fact, they don’t usually even go there.  The general conclusion to any query of ‘What causes this (or that) disease is- no one knows!’  

Hardly confidence inspiring, is it?  Right on par with old Clark Stanley saying “Just drink from this here bottle, every day and twice on Sunday, & you will be right as rain my friend!”

The true takeaway about this failure of modern medicine (for that is what it is- a complete failure- a corporate decision by modern medical clinics and hospitals, drug manufacturers, the AMA and all the other big conglomerate decision makers- is to take the money and run!  Just like old ‘Snake Oil Clark.  He didn’t know the actual cause (or the real cure) of disease either.  He just gave you something that made him money (1st priority), that also made you kind of forget your pains for a bit. (2nd priority)  And that’s pretty much what’s happening today, with modern medicine and its approach to chronic disease.

“Here, Mrs. Jones,” said the man in the white coat.  “Take these pills, and then you don’t need to change your diet and lifestyle to cure your (diabetes/obesity/high blood pressure/chron’s disease/arthritis/ depression etc etc etc fill in the blank disease).  Just go ahead eating your high processed carbs and sugar diet, wash it down with corn syrup sweetened soft drinks, but  be sure to only fry your chicken nuggets in soy or other industrial vegetable seed oils! Oh, and try to walk a few minutes each day, and avoid stress by watching lots of TV.  And cut calories as much as possible!  Also, avoid too much sleep, since you burn more calories when you are awake.”  

This is only a slight exaggeration, since good advice almost never comes from a medical ‘professional’; at least about true health.  

But what would ‘Snake Oil PaleoJay’ recommend to you?  Well, pretty much what your great grandparents would have told you: First, they would have said- ‘ Your health care is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!  No one elses- no doctor, no clinic, no government, NO ONE- Just YOU!’  
Then, they would go into particulars.

‘Eat lots of vegetables, and good God made fats like butter, ghee, lard and tallow.  Avoid anything that is processed by big industry- fast food, restaurant food for the most part, sweets of all kinds, and refined breads and other grain products.  Load up on wonderful foods as made by nature, like pastured eggs and meats, wild caught sea food, and raw dairy.  Eat naturally fermented foods, and above all get out in Nature and exercise vigorously, on a daily basis!  Breathe fresh country air, get out of crowded, smoggy cities with their chemicalized air and water, and raise as much of your own food as you can, preparing it in your own kitchen.  And sleep a good 8 hours each and every night in a cool dark room, without any sort of television or other electrical monstrosity blazing away, disturbing your mind and psyche.  Oh, and go to church every Sunday, and give thanks for your natural God given health and wellness, which will only remain if you avoid DRUGS of all sorts, illegal and, especially nowadays- LEGAL DRUGS! ‘

Listen to your great grandparents!  They knew that ol’ Snake Oil Stanley was a charlatan, just like the ‘Rain Man’ that came through town was.  And one more thing they would advise: ‘ Never go to the doctor unless you absolutely have to- meaning you break a limb, get an infectious disease like typhoid or pneumonia, get shot, or need an amputation of a gangrenous arm or leg!’

Great Grandma and Grandpa knew: doctors were a ‘necessary evil’, something every small town needed only one of, and only on rare occasions.  

Just like Snake Oil Stanley!

pqtd #127- Make Health your Hobby!


Western medicine today, although wonderful in crisis situations of acute trauma, is woefully bad when it comes to managing actual health, and in preventing disease!  In going regularly to an MD and getting numerous screenings and tests, you are doing nothing that will actually preserve your health- you will just be tested with numerous expensive procedures that tell very little about your actual health and wellness.  You will also undoubtedly be prescribed numerous prescription drugs, like statins, antidepressants, and high blood pressure medications whether they are really called for or not.

You need to become your own health care provider, in fact- your own doctor!  No one knows the real state of your health better than you yourself, and only you can develop the habits of good, paleo-type of daily nutrition, the stress relief of regular exercise and the rejuvenation of a good nightly sleep.  Those three things: proper ancestral diet, regular ancestral body weight types of exercise, and a good eight or more hours of sleep per night will do far more for you than any expensive prescription drugs, and for free.

I see it as coming down to this: the American Medical Association has devolved into the strongest labor union in the world, with the major goal being to take as much of your money, and that of the health insurance companies and the government as possible.  That has become their literal bottom line!

Not that many years ago, I recall, most hospitals were non-profit.  Even the Mayo clinic used to be a sanitarium where sick people went to be cured of disease with raw milk, fresh air and sunshine, and natural healing methods.  Now, they condemn raw milk, and are the jump to recommend controversial drugs and surgeries as a first resort!  Natural healing is derided by most doctors, and drugs are their answer to everything.

Do your own research- you will soon come to realize how you’ve been misled, since most MD’s today still rely on the outdated stuff they were taught decades ago in medical school, much of which is completely outdated, and proven wrong by the latest research.

You don’t want to be treated with 1970’s science, which has been turned upside down in more recent days.  Low fat, low calorie diets have been shown to be terrible, grains have been altered to the point where diabetes and obesity are rampant, and vegetable oils have been proven to be little better than poison.  Statin drugs have been shown to be far more harmful than beneficial, and most other drugs are little better than band aids that just treat symptoms, leaving your health even more compromised that it was before your took them.

Even many surgeries are just short-term fixes, stents merely propping open a vein for a bit, but leaving you to gradually close it off again with the bad effects of a horrible, standard American diet.  You need to address the root causes of the problem, not just prop yourself up for a while by handing over many thousands of dollars to a medical clinic.

If you brought your car to a garage because the oil pressure light was on, and the mechanic just disconnected the electrical wire to the light so it wouldn’t light up, would that satisfy the problem?  No, you just wouldn’t be aware of anything until your entire engine seized up and died!  But it you go to the doctor, and he prescribes pain medicines, antidepressants, statins, high blood pressure medicine, acid reflux pump inhibitors, and metformin while recommending you get a stent or two put in in the future…
He is doing the same as the mechanic!

He is treating symptoms, and doing nothing to treat the underlying cause of all of these disease symptoms- all of which are reversible.  Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease itself, all autoimmune diseases actually, are all reversible.  Naturally reversible, in fact they are not normal for the human animal at all. 

All that needs to be done is to clean up your diet, sleep, get regular exercise, meditate, walk around in your bare feet, and rejuvenate your gut flora with fermented foods and by avoiding glyphosate.  You need to get out in the sun for vitamin D, and you need a community or “tribe” of like-minded folks to connect with.

It might take a little time for you to turn around your conditions, but just living in such a pleasant, natural manner is really reward enough in and of itself!  “Euphoria” is supposed to be a deliriously happy state, but it really is, in the ancient greek meaning of the word,  just “feeling good and normal.”  If you live as I recommend, particularly in avoiding modern man made food-like substances and eating real, God made foods- why, not only will you look and feel healthy- you will constantly be euphoric!

PQTD #102 Separating FAT from fiction!

OK, admittedly I stole this title from the upcoming summit with Maria Shriver and Mark Hyman…

There are lots of paleo types involved- I noticed, with a quick glance at all of the photos, not only those two I already mentioned, but Dr. Axe, Chis Kresser, David Perlmutter, and many others who know whereof they speak on the bill.
I’m sure you could not go wrong listening to the summit!  You will possibly learn a lot.  But I will give you here a little list that, I’m sure, will sum up what they say in a nutshell, and save you listening for hours and hours…
But, if you have not already been “indoctrinated” into the paleo or ancestral lifestyle, you may need to be re-grainwashed, as I like to say, and sit through those hours to gradually come to the truth!  But, if (like me), you just want the Cliff’s Notes version, here is what I know will be covered:
Saturated fat, in spite of what you’ve been indoctrinated with for perhaps your entire life, is not bad for you!
In fact, it is wonderfully nutritious and helpful in losing fat, providing you with vital nutrients, and keeping you satisfied so you don’t overindulge in the true demons- SUGAR AND PROCESSED CARBS.

Things like Butter, Lard, Coconut oil, and Fatty Fish are incredibly healthy!
They are also the stuff that will satisfy your nutrient needs, and keep you thin and sane! (They are also, as I’m sure David Perlmutter will tell you in the summit, really, really good for your brain!)…
Grain will destroy your brain! 
On the same topic: grains, in addition to be loaded with anti-nutrients like gluten and gliadin (which destroy your gut lining and make you prone to auto-immune disease), will stimulate your appetite (making you want to eat more empty processed foods and get fatter and fatter).  In addition these grains will make you prone to mental problems like dementia, bi-polar, and all the other diseases of the brain- not only by increasing the the glycemic response (blood sugar raising) of the sugars they contain, but also by stimulating the crossing of the blood/brain barrier of these anti-nutrients and insulin-ogenic sugars, that will lay you low over time by gradually destroying your mind.
And so, I hate to be simplistic, but if you want it all laid out in a PALEO QUICK TIP OF THE DAY, Cliff’s Notes type of format, here it is, bottom line:
Don’t Eat Grains!  Especially wheat, which includes nearly all processed foods.
Eat Fat- don’t be afraid!  Saturated Fat!  No vegetable oils, they are on the same level as grains…
Just make sure they are from pastured animals.  This means beef that lives on grass, not corn! (Cows never evolved to eat corn!) 
Chickens that eat as they evolved to eat: grass, grains, bugs, worms- the key word is free range! Let ‘em go- they know what they need to eat!!  They need to “be chickens”- not confined in a cage being- well, being tortured food animals!

Eat a LOT of green vegetables, every day! 
Actually, I don’t know if they’ll cover this in the summit, but it is key to health, nevertheless.  They all know it, and do it I’m sure, but just to reiterate in case they don’t: Make a Paleo Green Smoothie (in a high powered blender) each and every day for maximum health and wellness!

Move around a LOT, each and every day of your life!
I don’t mean you have to go to a Cross Fit gym, and do WODS all the time- in fact, I would counsel you NOT TO DO THAT!  I mean that, it is essential to do exercise daily, not anything necessarily super-hard, like heavy weight lifting (don’t!), or lots of cardio to “burn calories and for heart health” (DON’T), or long sessions of jogging or aerobics or spinning or (fill in the blanks)- DON’T!

You just need to be a good member of the “tribe”- the human condition of those that are all about you.  You can prepare yourself to be a good human by-

Each morning, get up and do Perfectly Paleo Exercise!
  This means Virtual Resistance (where the muscles exercise naturally against themselves, by flexing and moving).
It means doing pushups, straight-legged sit ups, and simple stretches, sitting on the floor!
And it means walking- not long and difficult sessions- just parking at the back of the parking lot types of things; walking a little further than right in front of the store, and shuffling 20 feet in and then back…

And it also means “doing for yourself” as much as you can!
Cut your own wood!  What I mean is- if you are physically able to do anything for yourself, no matter how well off you are financially- do it for yourself!  And if you can help out your other “tribes-members”, meaning the folks in your neighborhood and family, well do it!

This is the kind of movement, and social fellowship that will not only give you strength on this earth, and mental health-
It assures that you are doing what God and Nature meant for us all to do- CARE FOR THE TRIBE!
