Work hard, save your money, and then relax in retirement… that is the modern mantra, by and large.  Unfortunately, what happens nowadays is this- work hard, sacrifice, accumulate wealth by ignoring and ultimately losing your health- then, spend the rest of your miserable life spending that wealth on medical procedures trying to regain your health!

Approximately 20% of the US gross domestic product is not spent on health care!  This is ridiculous as it is, and the percentage continues to grow larger.  It’s quite possible to spend next to NOTHING on our health care procedures, and be vibrantly healthy.

How?  Become a Physical Culturist, not a bodybuilder, and make your goal to maximize your health in a natural manner.  This means living like a healthy animal- ancestral, Paleo type of exercise, pure God made foods like grass fed animals, pastured butter, free range eggs, and lots and LOTS of veggies along with some fruit…

Add in plenty of sunshine, fresh air, and natural bodyweight, self-resisted, and especially virtual resistance exercise (much of this is detailed in my eBook Perfectly Paleo Exercise), and you are guaranteed a healthy, happy life, free of medical procedures and drug prescriptions loaded with negative side effects.

Take some of that money you save on painful, expensive surgery and drugs to buy yourself a Vitamix- probably the best possible thing you can get to dramatically improve your overall health and fitness!  A Vitamix blender is actually a chewing machine-
Lots of us are not that enamored of eating lots and lots of vegetables... understandable!

  Way more detail in my 1st eBook, Paleo Quick Start, but you can just take the recipe and go!  And variations are not only acceptable, but encouraged.  More veggies- more variety- more health!  Your garden (or your Farmer's Market!) is your  Palette- draw from it- add to your health.


I know from experience that most folks resist buying a Vitamix:


Too expensive
Too big of a change of lifestyle (versus pouring cereal and milk into a bowl...)
Seems "weird"- putting veggies and "strange" liquids (kefir, raw eggs, pastured butter, coconut milk, green tea) into a blender....
Trust me, have you priced a diagnosis of cancer or diabetes lately?

WAY more than a Vitamix.  I have a link at www.paleojay.com that you can click on to order one, and you get free shipping!  I feel strongly about the Vitamix brand, and know that it is the best brand out there.  I only recommend what a firmly believe in, and know to be very effective.

If things in our health care system made sense, then our health insurance would cover a Vitamix, cod liver oil, perfect pushup devices, pull-up bars, and such like...

but our health care system makes no sense whatsoever, which is why it (and we) are going broke!

But you don't have to go down this self-destructive path-

Take the conservative approach- don't rely on Government!  Provide for your own health!

Eat good, real, natural, God-made foods!
Do natural, non-machine, real body exercise!!
SLEEP a LOT!
Have good personal connections- a "Tribe" or "Family" with which you connect...

Do all of the above, and you will be a healthy, happy, spiritually fulfilled, and FIT cave person!

Updated Paleo Smoothie Recipe- HIGH nutrient density!

Packed and ready to blend on the road!
I promised I would reveal my ultra-secret Paleo Smoothie recipe today, Labor Day 2012!!

And so, you have here revealed to you the Rosetta Stone of easy Paleo-style nutrition- 


JUST ADD A VITAMIX!

Blend well...






Coconut Milk- 1 can
Coconut oil and/or red Palm oil- 2 Tablespoons
Carlson’s or Nordic Naturals Cod liver oil- 1 Tablespoon
Powdered kelp- 1 teaspoon
Spirulina- 1 tsp
Vitamin D3 liquid- a few drops
J.Crowe's Lugol solution of iodine- a few drops
Unsweetened kefir- 1/4 cup
Organic, unsweetened lemon juice- 1 teaspoon
Apple cider vinegar- 1 teaspoon
1-2 cups of green tea
cinnamon- 1 tsp- also great on coffee and whipped cream! (Fresh ground is best-
I use a coffee grinder)
Frozen spinach or kale or other leafy green- approximately 1 cup
Frozen mixed “California Mix” vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots), ~1 cup
Frozen mixed berries- blueberries, raspberries, strawberries- 1 cup
1/2 banana (I freeze mine so they don’t over-ripen)-optional
1 peeled orange
2 raw, organic free range eggs (optional) or more!  I often use 4 eggs; the yolks are the best part, nutritionally speaking!  Who needs fake protein powders?  
Greek yogurt also a good protein source
Also, 1 Tablespoon Kerrygold pastured butter
1 can coconut milk OR coconut milk powder


Since publishing my ebook, I have begun adding the dried, powdered varieties of:
turmeric 1 tsp
ginger 1 tsp
kelp 1 tsp
spirulina 1 tsp
red beet powder 1 tsp
These are strong anti-inflammatory agents, among many other benefits.
And NOW:
4 Tablespoons Bob's Potato Starch!  This is key for feeding your gut microbes!!


Another tip: Bulk Foods if a great place to order your dried coconut milk powder from!  

They are a food wholesaler; so you get top notch stuff at rock bottom prices- they ship fast, and are a great source for all kinds of very healthy, and also very unhealthy foods- it's your choice!

Whenever I order some dried coconut powder, I also order some nuts, dark Lindt chocolate bars, spices and other healthy things like kelp and spirulina.  I have no affiliation with Bulk Foods whatever, but they are a great resource in your Paleo lifestyle! 
 (Just don't order the gummy bears in bulk...)


Quite frankly- if you start making a daily smoothie similar to the above daily, you will be doing more to improve and salvage your health than anything else I can think of!  We are all suffering from years of substandard nutrition, since we are all suffering from many years of misinformation and propagandizing about long, slow exercise and low-fat nutritional lies.  We have to be pro-active in rebuilding our sadly lacking health through adding in all the nutrient density we can!

This Smoothie will do that- restore your health- give you glowing skin, healthy, vital teeth and hair, and a restored immune system from the "inside out", as the beneficial bacteria are restored in your intestinal tract that digest many foods for you.

To complete your nutritional rebirth, after starting in with the above, get going with a Weber Grill, making a cornucopia of foods weekly that will last you through the week!  

Just reheat later, and you'll easily have a week's worth of lunches and dinners after an enjoyable "grill outing" in your yard on a Sunday afternoon!

The other thing I would recommend?  

Get a crock pot!

You can throw together a great Paleolithic meal in the morning, just after you make your Paleo smoothie, and before you do your Paleo Exercises!  

Trust me, after you get into it, this early morning stuff will become the highlight of your day- especially the EXERCISE!

Now you do!!



This stuff really is not all that hard!  It just requires... change... but this change is so worth it! 
It means health, and vitality, and mental health (our crappy modern diet is just as bad for our mental health as our physical health)!  

I think that you are worth the effort to do this, my friend!  Now,  just do it, for the sake of you and yours!

Paleo Exercise and TV!

It seems strange, even to me, that something as age-old and basic as Perfectly Paleo types of exercise blend perfectly with television viewing; specifically Netflix shows and movies!
But, it's true...

I exercise early mornings, which is the only time that I can reliably reserve for myself.  I think it's like that for most of us "worker bees".  I get up, make my Paleo Smoothie for the day whilst heating the water for my tea and coffee...  While the Vitamix is running on high, blending all of the veggies, fruits, kefir, spices, green tea, etc.  that will nourish me for day optimally, I walk into the living room, and select my streaming Netflix movie of the day!  (What a tough caveman's life).

I always start with Visualized Resistance Exercises.  I learned about these years ago from John Peterson of  Transformetrics, who is the acknowledged expert on this form of resistance training.

Here is a brief, abbreviated video I made to demonstrate this simple, timeless form of safe, productive, and easy-to-do-anywhere form of exercise-
So, while I watch an entertaining movie, I gradually stretch out, and tense every muscle group in my body!  You can make it as taxing or as easy as you'd like; I find I wind up tensing on average up to 80% or so of my maximum ability...believe it or not, often this period in the morning is my favorite part of the day!

Doing these Visualized exercises can be your entire workout, as was mine this morning, since I worked really hard yesterday, and wanted to recover. (This form of exercise can be very restorative, to both muscles and joints).  It starts by strengthening the ligaments and tendons, as opposed to standard weight lifting, which starts by taxing the muscles, and does little or nothing to gradually strengthen and prepare the connective tissues and joints to bear the increased load on the musculature.

But usually, I finish up with pushups, sit-ups, hindu squats, hindu pushups, bridging, and other calisthenics, along with some self-resisted exercise (one arm resisting another, for instance)... and isometric holds as well.

By the time you are done with such a productive, yet actually fun session of Paleo Exercise in front of your TV, you have worked on virtually every muscle in your body, and you feel just great- 
What a way to start your day!

I recommend it to one and all- you'll never want to just sit on the couch and passively watch television again- it's that addicting.

Don't count Calories- Count NUTRITION!



Ingredients

This points out what I'm talking about here- calories are nearly a meaningless measurement.

NUTRIENTS, and micro-nutrients are what really matter!  Every time you eat a Twinkie, or a donut, or even a slice of supposedly healthy whole grain bread, you are denying your body the nutrition, the actual real, God-made food that you need to optimally run your body.

It's not just that you ate something "fattening"- you ate something that displaced real FOOD and nutrients.  This is a real problem for your body- it has really bad calories that it doesn't want to waste, crappy chemicals to deal with, and, in addition, your precious body has no nutrients, nothing of what it really needs to run your bodily machinery!

You have effectively poured sugar into your gas tank!

So, empty calories aren't just "fattening"- they are Poison.

What to do?

If I were you, I'd do what I do:  Eat a Paleo diet!  No grains, no sugars, no trans fats- just REAL FOOD-- veggies and fruits, meats and seafood, some nuts and fermented dairy...

But, have you ever thought about this:

Low Quality Exercise
Low Quality Food =
Low Quality HEALTH??

Twinkies, plus running on the treadmill for hours to "burn calories'... equals-

A health nightmare!

So, what should a person do?

Should you run out and buy lots of supplements, to make up for your horrible nutrition?
Should you buy fitness "gadgets" to exercise off all of those "empty, horrid calories??"

NO!!  
Make your OWN nutritional supplements- complete with macro AND micro-nutrients- 

FROM  REAL FOOD! (What a concept!)

I'm really not trying to "sell you" on anything- just guide you along- it's my passion and my mission!

What I'm saying, bottom line is this:  

Just eat real food.  Food from Nature.  God Made Food- Meats, veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds.  

NO processed foods!  

It's actually strange how completely we have been "brainwashed" by product marketing: 
We really, really, really don't need, nor should we eat, anything in a package, a box, or a packet from the store!  

We only need real, actual, God made, natural foods!  No margarine- no "skimmed" milk, no Pasteurized Milk even-

JUST REAL FOODS!!

It's amazing how "un-hungry" you are when you eat real foods!  And exercise with real exercise-

No machines, no treadmills, no stairmasters, no "fake" exercises- 

Just real, actual, bodyweight and simple visualized and self-resisted exercises- 

20 minutes while watching Netflix (or just TV!) and channeling the exercise involved will be sufficient to

TRANSFORM YOUR BODY AND HEALTH!

You really don't need a gym membership, or any other exercise "gizmos"...

But, unless you want to cook a LOT, and really get into Paleo cookbooks and learn about how to pack nutritious Paleo lunches and meals...

You do need a Vitamix.

Think of it as a "meal preparation/chewing machine"-

If there is one thing I would NEVER want to be without, health-wise- it's a Vitamix!  No Lie!
